Well the vast majority of us here do not believe in compulsory education.

Here are some great arguments against compulsory education:

I certainly feel your frustrations, I HATED public school so much.

However, I don't think that the President should be involved in our economy or our healthcare system either... the government is the reason why the prices are so high in both health care and many sectors of the economy (housing, energy, food, etc).

It is not Quantity but rather Quality of time and Quality of material that matters. Period!!! :)

Average Attention Span

Attention spans vary for many reason including age, diet, influence of television (especially commercials), lack of development of individual reading skills and other attention improving methods, content of material.

Example: When Oblahma speaks, my attention lasts for about three seconds-for various reasons, but when Dr. Paul speaks or Daniel Hannan speaks, I could listen for an hour or more easily. :)

I have mixed feelings about your post on daily kos. From a principled stand point all that is required is to say that it is not right. However since they already have control of the schools it is hardly a stretch for them to run them to their satisfaction. What should have been said as some one mentioned in comments is that we spend more instruction hours then other countries yet we still do worse.

Overall I give you a B.

I'd start a business before going to school. Or learn a trade. Just a thought.

The principle to fight for is that these decisions should be made as locally as possible because then the people making the decision will have the most information about the situation and also the people affected will have access on the decision makers. Also, people in different places like to live by different rules.

Localism is a good thing.

One man - Obama - doing it by fiat is a bad thing.

I agree. I go to college right now, and I hate it.

I'm of the mind while you should be critical of who you vote in, that you get what you vote for. Tough luck amigo. Perhaps next time you will more closely research the candidate you support.
