what? oh man, I thought tonight was going to be boring!
It's friday night- and I'd rather spend it listening to Ron Paul than clubbing with the guys.
We are a strange breed.

I wish they would have had something like this for the Loyola lecture Ron gave, that would have been epic.
Maybe I should email Doctor Walter Block about having another lecture with Ron Paul, and this time include Tom Woods. Set it up for internet stream. It would be epic.
Then we could coordinate a moneybomb on the same day. parties all around.

Y'know, we complain about Democrat congresscritters handpicking their audiences for townhall meetings, and here we have more of the same. I'm a little disappointed.

I'd love to see RP answering liberals' 'tough' questions.

I'd like to see her take an open non-interventionist foreign policy stance though. That appears to be the weakest link on the right and also certain libertarians.

I agree, that is her test.

She has a blog on Townhall, pretty much on the mark with her articles, but she avoids the war issue:

I don't understand all the Bachmann hate here. Yes, she was pretty neocon, but she's kept an open mind and has very quickly come to Ron Paul on most positions. She seems to still be learning, but I think she understands most of it now.

Look at it this way... there's 2 ways to get Ron Paul Republicans into office. The first is to wait for an election, spend millions in campaigning, spend hundreds of thousands of hours in volunteer grassroots campaigning, and hopefully they'll get elected. The second way is to find somebody who sees the problems and has an open mind to learn the real solutions to the problems who is already in office. The second way costs almost nothing. Politicians who convert to Ron Paul Republicans need to be supported so that other politicians see that they can change their ways and still keep their seats.

Yes, that was our own Scribbler de Stebbing. Good work, Marianne!

Dr. Paul is looking tired. He's not a young man anymore, the 2012 question is a very nice tribute but the message he's pushing is for each of us to be that change we want to see, he can't carry the standard for another 35 years. But I suspect he'll try and do so for as long as he can.

And hear, hear! for Jonathan Kovaciny for the special thanks he got from Ron for all the hard work collecting petition sigs, and to Jeff Frazee & YAL for organizing a great event. I was a little worried the place would get completely overrun with flaming health care socialists and axe-wielding GLBT activists in leather masks looking for Bachmann's head on a platter.

The event was amazing, and I took a friend with me that had never been to a rally or town hall, a bit differently organized than some in the past but overall very good.

Now, props to Torchbearer, vigilance must never be forgotten when dealing with people in times like these.

Also, it was very free to the public, and kind of a last minute thing for us to go, parking was pretty easy, and also props to 100.3 in the area for advertising that this was going on.

Decent turn out, kinda funny that it was a student town hall, in a way it was because we are all students of liberty.

I returned from this a little while ago. It was a pleasant event, RP was a very eloquent speaker, as usual. Bachmann did okay for her part, and played it safe by backing up Ron Paul on auditing the fed without skirting more controversial issues.

Fortunately and unfortunately, I sat by one of the groups of pro-Obama healthcare people. Their main beef seemed to be with Bachmann. Myself and a couple other people in my party had some mildly heated discussions with them. It seemed to get through to them that we weren't there as Republican hacks. I pressed a few of them about healthcare, and every one even admitted they would prefer it be done at the state level, not federal control. I saw some of them applauding later on as Ron Paul took on monetary issues and--the big issue--wars and foreign aggression.

Ron Paul's talk about hitting Iran and interventionism was a stroke of genius. It softened some of the liberals in the audience who came to protest about healthcare (which wasn't even the main subject), and it exposed the Bachmann people and mainstream Republicans to his position. Bravo.

This is a great marker event in the evolution of Mstebbens/Bachmann fully towards the path of liberty. Paul is the standard, the touchstone, through which we can measure the progress of others. I think Bachmann is taking a cautionary politican's approach to war/nonintervention issues, picking her battles until she feels more comfortable personally and with the poll numbers. Give her a show of support, as the one who votes more closely with Paul than anybody else in Congress at this time.

From the 2nd one:

"I've never seen more hypocrisy in the same room before," said Andy Pederson, another U student. "They talk about the deficit as if they aren't part of the problem."
Congratulations Andy Pederson! You were just immortalized on the internet as having no clue as to what you are talking about.
