LOL! No- there was so much Ron Paul traffic going on right near the $1,000,000 mark that it took down both the RonPaul2008.com site and us. We had 450+ users and ended up with a database error. This was my first need to fix such a problem and I selected the "Repair" option- it tells me "Wait Please..." OK- 2 hours later, still waiting. :) So I abort, talk to some others, do some searches, try to figure it out and boom, at 3:30AM, I get lucky. :)

So we're still looking for an expert for tuning a Linux box running Apache, PHP, SQL and vBulletin.

They changed "hacked" to "attacked" - how can they tell if the traffic was legit or not?

Oh it's working now. I wonder where Lewrockwell gets their information from? I know they understand politics but do they really understand packets? Generally an attack is something very simple like a dos which is hardly "complex". Also very different than an actual hack or intruder.

Don't worry the ronpaul2008.com site is hosted by Rackspace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rackspace), a huge manage hosting service provider in Texas. I'm sure they know what's going on and how to handle it.
