View Full Version : Sounds Like Uncle Ron Has $10M

From the official site:

We have about 34 hours left to reach our goal of $1,000,000 in seven days. When we reach it, we'll get $10 million worth of publicity.

Could we be in the same league as the "front runners" in terms of raising money this quarter? It would be hard for them to ignore that fact if true.

No, you're reading too literally into it. All he means is that he's going to get a bunch of publicity if we reach this goal and he has a respectable number to report for Q3 earnings. It'd be awesome if he had $10 million, but it's a pretty unlikely.

I think that's very wishful thinking. Don't keep your expectations too high or you'll wind up disappointed.

$10M would be a miracle, I highly doubt it.

He said the same thing of his mention beating out McCain in cash on hand in 2Q, that it was worth millions in free publicity... that's all it means ;)

I'll be happy with $4M..... excited with $5M.... and thrilled to death with anything higher ;)

I'm pretty sure this is just in reference to his prior email alerts portraying this end of the quarter push as a way to get more publicity than we could ever afford by exceeding expectations, like we did last quarter when we had more money than John McCain.

That is not at all what the campaign said.

Sheesh, read what they wrote.

They said we'd have good numbers and the publicity for having good numbers would be worth 10mil, not that we would have 10mil in the warchest.

Are you guys stoned today or something?

Please don't title threads with such nonsense.

All he's talking about is that when our numbers turn out better than expected, we will get a lot of free publicity. He is not saying that we brought in 10Million. Nothing of the sort. He's equating that number to the amount of free publicity we will get.

Actually I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised when the 3rd quarter numbers come out...very very surprised

I usually don't, heck I didn't think we were going to get the $1M but I guess I was wrong. But since its posted on the main site, its kinda hard not to believe.

The real total will be closer to 4 million I believe.

You misread what he wrote. He was talking about the free publicity being as helpful to the campaign as ten million dollars would be.

Want TEN MILLION DOLLARS in FREE (for the campaign) publicity???

The Answer is easy (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=20812&highlight=wriststrong).

Don't even start to sell yourself on this fantasy.

13 weeks in the quarter.
10Mil/13 == $769,230/week.
Seeing as just a month ago they were saying that 100k in a week was their "best ever". I would say that is unreasonable.

I'll be happy with 4 and surprised with 5+

Well I would say at least $5 mill, but I don't know how much they spent....

Lets see this $1 million we're getting doesn't include:
- Past online donations made before this week
- The meetup contest
- The fill the quill
- Offline donations
- All those $500,000 and $200,000 fundraisers

So I'd say at least $5 million

100k in a week couldn't have been their best ever during this quarter -- that's only $1.2 million or so in a quarter. I think they said that about $100k in a day. That still puts $10 million out of reach, though.

no its not 10 million..it means the fact that he raised more cash than in Q2 would mean 10 million worth of news coverage of his campaign

ForLibertyFight
09-29-2007, 06:58 PM
That would be incredible but very unlikely. I think we raised about 5 ~ 6 million dollars.

No, Jumpy, you don't get it. The website isn't giving anything away about how much money they have. They said that getting the million dollars now is the same as $10M dollars WORTH OF PUBLICITY, not that they HAVE $10M. In other words, the news coverage they get as a result of their high numbers would cost $10M if they were to buy it. This is the same line they've been using in their emails all this week, and you're the first person I've heard of who thought they were claiming to have $10M. Like the others said, please read their words carefully before you inaccurately present it in a thread title like this one.

In fact, it might be good if the admins delete this thread.

By the way when are the Q3 numbers coming out?

The candidates will announce them before that though. We'll probably see some announce next week. Last quarter ended June 30th and Dr. Paul announced that he raised $2.4 million on George Stephanopolous's show about a week later. So we could know as early as a week!

LibertyEagle
09-29-2007, 07:09 PM
I imagine it will depend upon whether he has a big interview on the schedule. If he doesn't, I doubt we'll find out for 2 weeks.

I think it was early in August when Ron Paul said we had just had our best single DAY (not week) of fundraising at 100k.

Pretty sure it'll be slightly over 5, cash raised is not the same as cash on hand. Which Ron will still have some left over from 2nd quarter hopefully.

Any one reads that as 1 million, can get ,they mean extra coverage in the media etc. It's a pretty simple statement.

Beating McCain's 5 million for this quarter would be a huge boon. I think probably we didn't quite make it, but its a nice thought. We should spank him in cash on hand again, at least.

Well, they're all saying that this quarter it's the Cash On Hand that is the important figure...and I think Dr. Paul is thrifty enough to be impressive in this area.
