Saw the former handing out constitutions today that were imprinted with the Heritage Foundation logo and address. What's their angle (H.F.)? Are these Students for Liberty affiliated with CFL, cause the logo looked like a copy of CFL logo?

You may want to send an email to someone over at YAL and ask them for the scoop.

Ok, will do. I was kind of suspicious when I brought up Ron Paul, and they were just like, "Oh, he's interesting."

When you find out, please come back and tell us. I sure hope it isn't the Heritage Foundation trying to co-opt YAL.

According to the Wikipedia article it was started in 2007 by students participating in an Institute for Humane Studies fellowship program. It sounds like a very complimentary organization to YAL...maybe the two groups can find a way to network and share resources.

IHS and Students for Liberty are part of the Kochtopus (http://www.lewrockwell.com/gordon/gordon37.html). That's not to say they won't do any good but there's a friction between the Ron Paul/Von Mises wing and the CATO/Kochtopus wing of the movement. Specifically I think Students for Liberty is run (correction: All I could find is that he's an adviser and promoter) by Tom Palmer (former VP at Cato) who's been on a jihad against the Ron Paul wing of the movement.

I don't know how the attitudes from the "top" transfer to the campus level and I wouldn't instigate anything but I bet they're pretty PC and have different priorities (http://www.antiwar.com/blog/2007/12/07/cato-institute-vp-sneers-at-ron-paul-hes-not-our-kind-of-person/).

On the whole, it looks like Students for Liberty is good. While the higher-ups may have reservations about 'RP/Von Mises/Rockwell' axis, the kids probably don't even know there's a rift.

At the website they are cheering ron paul and Ayn Rand-fan John Allison of BB&T.

It's all good. Moving in the right direction.

This constant simplistic refrain isn't doing the movement any good. Go to the ATLAS (Koch-funded) sound money page I posted yesterday filled with links to Mises.org (including Rothbard). Nearly everyone on "both sides" wishes that crap were dead and buried (yes, there are a few keeping the grudgematch going).

Constitutions: Several groups here printed LOTS of the pocket constitutions (Heritage, Cato, Free Congress, etc.). They're floating around here all the time, it's a good thing and probably doesn't mean anything.
