I suppose we should be crabbing about them voting before they've had a chance to read it, but...Senator Johanns' (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/106938#comment-1167317) amendment that would halt federal payments to ACORN passed the House today, 83 - 7. It's attached to HR 3288 (iirc) which is a transportation appropriations bill.

There are some mightily ticked off cockraoches scurrying around today.

The guy who shot these videos has a Peter Schiff video in his favorites. :) The camera is our weapon.

If that was the vote, and it was a Senator Johanns amendment, it is likely it passed the Senate and not the House. The House will be the barrier on that one, however, the House typically yields to the Senate.

It was the Senate; I changed the thread title.

Yeah, I wondered about that after I posted it - it was the Senate, and with the roll call numbers I should have realized that, but the bill number in the article I saw was HR3288. Perhaps Bradley can wander in and explain why the Senate is amending a House bill.

Thanks for catching my slack! Warning, that could easily turn into a full-time position. :)

Does this mean that there will be extra finances to either help pay for or to start new and improved government funded program? Or is this amount not going to be needed from tax payers?

Am i the only one getting a pro-republican advertising banner on this thread...

As hard for me to believe what I've been reading, the dems are actually defending ACORN, and suggesting that the solution is for them to ...

CHANGE THEIR NAME.

A Republican banner ad on a site that supports a Republican? Oh, the horror.

It won't surprise me, but Boxer, Reid, ...and several other heavy hitters all voted Yes. The One can't be happy.

Yes! Now all we need to do is continue to expose Obama's connection - DEEP connection to this corrupt organization. It may not be his undoing, but it will sour a lot of people to him and make his agenda impossible to achieve.

Beware of their shell games though. The twins have a way of just closing up shop and opening up under another name and venue.

Proves there is some hope... Although you mark my words.. If ACORN goes down, they will quickly rebound under another name; with the same major funding of taxpayer dollars as before.

Have you seen the stuff that Anita MonCreif has put out there?

THe government ignored about amillion documents that proved America was guilty of at least a few war crimes, and I suspect they're in no big hurry to uncover financial misdealings either.

Hasn't really been updated on Thomas yet as far as I can tell. Easiest way to filter once you find a page is to search by "Johanns"

But didn't they already change their name to Community Organizations International last june? I'd like to know if COI will be receiving any funds.
(story) http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/ACORN-drops-tarnished-name-and-moves-to-silence-critics-48730537.html

And according to this ACORN website, the founder (Wade Rathke) works with a lot of organizations under different names.

Wade Rathke is the founder and Chief Organizer of Community Organizations International (Formally Acorn International) and SEIU Local 100, has been a professional organizer for thirty-five years. He is also the founder and former Chief Organizer of ACORN. He has worked for and founded a series of organizations dedicated to winning social justice, workers rights, and a democracy where “the people shall rule”.

Wade Rathke’s work as an organizer for social justice includes leadership roles in a number of community, union, and educational organizations. To learn more about the work of these activist organizations, visit these websites.

A Republican banner ad on a site that supports a Republican? Oh, the horror.

Democrats: Socialized Medicine and Cap and Trade
Republicans: Socialized Medicine for Iraqi's and Iranian War

The simple fact of the matter is, its Aliens v. Predators. We need to run as independents locally.

Imagine non party affiliated governor exempting his citizens from federal income tax until the Federal Budget is balanced. That would be cool.

You will get no such things from Republicans, only traditional marriage talk from philanderers and limited government talk from big-military backers.

Screw Republicans.

Screw Acorn too.

I think the EPA should reclaim DC as marshland, fence it in, and let the mosquitoes and dragonflies have it back.

That's good but of limited use. I'm sure there are many other ways for Congress to give them funds not to mention that they have so many shell organizations.

Virtually worthless.

I think I just stumbled across what you were reading. They are literally upset because ACORN was the goose that could have laid the golden egg - which doesn't sound exactly honest to me.

Scary stuff.

Calling for seizure of public the airwaves to keep those damned dirty Republicans from taking tax money away from poor people who voted to steal it.

ACORN apparently has no responsibility in all of this in their world -i t is all the fault of the filmmaker.

Burris who filled in for Obama ---2010 - has said he may not run again anyway
Gillibrand who filled in for Clinton - special election 2010 - term ends 2012
Sanders -- No surprise; not vulnerable
Leahy -- No surprise; not vulnerable - up in 2010
Whitehouse -- No surprise; maybe vulnerable -- up in 2012
Casey -- Could be vulnerable -- up in 2012
Durbin -- Not vulnerable -- up in 2014

Check out http://mittromneycentral.com/2009/09/14/acorn-gets-the-old-1-2-loses-census-then-funding/

We need to the suggestion at the bottom of that article which calls for a full-blown RICO investigation which will help stop ACORN from simply changing names should fraud and corruption be found running rampant though that organization.

Also, Glenn Beck says his show has another bombshell to drop on ACORN on Tuesday's show.

I am here in PA and am amazed at how Casey voted...he must have had his sense of right and wrong surgically removed. I will be doing all that I can to see that both Casey and Specter do not return to the Senate!

I'm with ya. I've actually considered another temporary switch to Democrat to vote against both of these douchebags in the primary. They've both had more than enough time to do some good and both have failed miserably.
