Medina, a top volunteer in Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign, joins powerhouse Republicans Rick Perry and Kay Bailey Hutchison as candidates in the March primary.

With little money and firmly outside the political mainstream, Medina hopes to capitalize on the growing anti- Washington sentiment in Texas, including those with Libertarian views about property rights, limited government and the protection of personal freedoms.

She is a great candidate, she fought hard for Ron Paul delegates at the State Convention. Actually getting good local radio show coverage. She might do alot better than expected, with Perry and Kay Baily fighting over stupid stuff.

Her facebook page is very active.

There's also a Texas secessionist running for governor named Larry Kilgore. He's a strong supporter of Free Markets.

I like Kilgore, but he's a perennial candidate that isn't going to attract a whole lot of people. Medina is really the best choice.

I want to see Kilgore run for Lieutenant Governor in the end.

Medina has my primary vote I think, and then in the general its her or Kinky.

Medina is also a secessionist and a friend of Kilgore.

NO to Kinky Friedman

Kinky Friedman:

1.) "If I were Governor, I would absolutely take the Federal Government stimulus money"

2.) Doesn't support Texas Sovereignty under the 10th Amendment.

3.) Kinky supports Obama. Gives him a 7 out of 10.

Kinky is anti-death penalty, anti-TTC, pro property rights, anti capital taxes, etc. I bet after his independent bid he would help fix the massive ballot-access problems we have in Texas. And I bet he would back medicinal marijuana if he got the chance.

Of course Kinky woulda taken the stimulus money. The mandates in place would force ongoing funding from the state in the area it was given to if I remember right. And I am betting Kinky having some progressive leanings would be funding it anyway.

Who cares if Kinky supports Obama? It says nothing about him himself.

Could he be better? Yes. Is he a good candidate? You betchya.

I think for someone seeking the Dem nomination, giving the current Dem President a 7 out of 10 is probably the lowest rate you can get away with without raising the ire of the party elite. Especially when his only compliment of Obama was that he could blossom into a better president.
