Please Help:

Today, I am trying to make Ron Paul DVDs. I have burnt many CDs and DVDs but have never dealt with torrent files.

I have downloaded a torrent file (I guess). The download only took a couple of seconds -- is that normal?

If I have the download, how do I deal with it? How do I burn it?

It seems that I do not have programming to handle a torrent file? Do I need a special program?

Please don't get too technical on me, remember "help for dummies"!

Thanx!

You need a bittorrent client like Transmission or Azureus to use the torrent to download the file. These are free programs.

You will open the torrent in the program and let it download. After it finishes downloading, please leave it uploading until at least 200% to allow others to download what you obtained.

Where are these torrent files?

Like libertythor said, you've got to load that file into a torrent client. I use Utorrent, but they're all similar.

Chances are that the file will already be in a .iso type. This means that the name of the file is something like RonPaulDVD.iso. If you don't see the .iso or . anything, then you should show the file extensions for known file types. You do this by going Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View and then uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types"

If it's not an ISO file, then it'll probably be compressed in a RAR file (like a ZIP file, but better)
If this is the case, just download a trial of Winrar and extract the file.

Alright, so you should have an ISO file. Now you just need to get burning. Hopefully you have a program like Nero or whatever already on your PC.
You just need to pop in a blank DVD, find an option such as "Burn Disc Image" and then tell it where you have the file saved.

That should be it.
Let us know if you have problems.

Cool !

These really take a LONG time to download, don't they? Mine shows I still have over 2 and a half hours and it has been running a while.

That's seems like it's going plenty fast for something that's probably 4 GB.

The download speed depends on the number of people seeding and the number of people downloading. On the particular torrent we are downloading, there are only 4 seeders.

If we both keep seeding long after it finishes downloading (to at least 200%), things will be easier for the next downloaders.

I've been seeding this one for a while. I just bumped up the upload speed on this one for you.

You know, I was just sitting here, downloading the Ron Paul video, printing out Ron Paul literature, watching the Ron Paul thermometer rising and thinking....

It is easy to see why we all love Ron Paul, but one thing I love about him is that he brought us all together. Without him, I would have never met such wonderful, kind, concerned and helpful people as you all!
