Besides the point. He could be a blood-drinking neocon for all I know.

He got the ire of about 600 people sitting in the chamber and several million viewers for one remark.

Ballsy.

But perhaps he now has a change of heart?

There's already a Wiki entry for it.

"Controversy

September 9th, 2009 Presidential Address

During a September 9, 2009 speech to a joint session of Congress by President Obama, Wilson created controvery by calling out "You lie!" as Obama said there was no coverage for illegal immigrants in his healthcare plan. [10][11] Fellow Congressmen shouted their disapprovals at Wilson's outburst and after the session, Senator John McCain called upon Wilson to immediately apologize."

He doesn't care, he'll never got voted out.

Yes , especially if he didn't vote for Bush bailouts, Iraqi freedom, Patriot act etc. Then he's bold and not just a partisan hack suddenly turned patriot.

EDIT: Nevermind. While exposing Obama's policies is good, I withdraw my qualified praise for his guts.

Joe Wilson

Voted NO on investigating Bush impeachment for lying about Iraq. (Jun 2008)

Voted NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq starting in 90 days. (May 2007)
Voted YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)

Voted YES on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)

There appeared to be quite a grumbling in the seconds before he said it (in fact, I think he said it twice, if you listen carefully. The first time the treasonous Pelosi looks sideways I believe it is in response to him saying it the first time...).

Ooohh! Nancy was sooooo shocked and dismayed!!!! Ruffled her designer suit.

I am replicating my post since there are multiple threads going on to give the discussion context:

No doubt he has voted for some legislation that is vile to the principals of the founding fathers but I wanted to put your comment in context.

Looking at data available on votesmart.org, making a general assumption that most federal legislation expands the role of government, I would say he votes yes to expand the role of government about 43% of the time.

To give that some context he deviates 28% away from Dr. Paul's record. While some of the crap he has voted for really sucks he is not anywhere close to the worst of the criminals in Congress.

Joe Wilson

Total
yes 180 (43%)
no 242 (57%)

http://www.votesmart.org/voting_cate...hp?can_id=3985

Ron Paul
yes 83 (15%)
no 478 (85%)

This could have been a boost for Wilson's career if he had stuck to his guns. Now he looks like an idiot. He would have had major press over the next few days and could have come off looking like a real freedom fighter. Especially in this environment of fired-up town hall meetings.

Yeah, it actually makes me sick to my stomach knowing that anyone actually gave the president respect during the speech. As far as I am concerned they should have been calling him a traitor to the constitution during the entire thing. However, its probably not good for the pot to call the kettle black.

Wow, stumbled on this thread in search.

Was Joe Wilson a prophet?

"Wilson was re-elected in 2010 by a comfortable 9 percentage points over his nearest challenger and when he ran unopposed in the 2012 general election he was re-elected with 96% of the vote."

Has he been vindicated:
