Ron Paul is at 4 to 1 odds of winning the Republican nomination according to the gambling world.

I had to refresh this twice to be sure.

I view this as very important. The gamblers have nearly doubled their odds of Ron Paul winning the Republican nomination since the last update to 7:1. He was 200:1 a few months ago.

He is nearly neck and neck with Fred.

4:1 on the GOP nom is the same as 8:1 for winning Pres.

No real difference or improvement there, folks. :p

Yes there IS a difference, because they were predicting that if he wins the nomination, he will likely win the presidency. They recently had him at 7-1 for the nomination and 8-1 for the Presidency, only slightly less likely. We all know the GOP nomination will be the only real battle, converting all those neo-cons.

Wrong. He was 7:1 for the nomination as recently as yesterday.

Somebody should tell Hunter and Tancredo that their odds are even longer than Hagel's, who not only isn't in the race, but has publicly announced that he won't ever be in the race.

Does anybody know if this sort of thing is affirmed by other betting sites?

Something's screwy with that site, they've got 6-1 odds on Al Gore being elected president.

All it takes is for a well known/respected gambler to make a move and have people that are paying attention follow suit and the oddsmaker can be forced to tighten up the odds.

I will be interesting if this holds next week.

The key to these odds are whether or not they're used for actually betting. People spending their hard earned dollars based on the odds.

According to intrade.com he's at about 17:1 to win the nomination.

A response from Chris at Gambling911.com:

I will review Sportsbook.com in a moment but it more than likely means his supporters are betting on him vigorously and they've had to shorten the odds further.
I'm going to feature a piece shortly that lists odds on Ron Paul at other reputable gambling websites at much better payout odds.
