A finance committee is a group of wealthy supporters and/or well connected people whose sole purpose in a campaign is to raise as much money as possible. The finance committee that a Senator sits on is part of the Senate; they deal with banking and finance regulation.

During the Senate election in 2008 Forcht Bank locations put up big 4*8s for "Team Mitch" It struck me as odd that a business especially a bank would so visibly support a Senate Candidate when that candidate was being attacked for his support of the Bank Bailout. Mitch only won by 3 or 4 points If he was running against a candidate that had less baggage (Lundsford) he probably would have lost. I know he was sacred. He said so himself in one of his speeches after the election.
