"In this engaging 1959 interview, her first on television, Ayn Rand capsulizes her philosophy for CBS's Mike Wallace. The discussion ranges from the nature of morality to the economic and historical distortions disseminated about the "robber barons." She also comments on her relationship with Frank O'Connor, provides some autobiographical information and gives her perspective on the future of America."

"The people have never been given a choice. You know that both parties today are for Socialism, in effect, for controls and there is no party, there are no voices to offer an actual pro-capitalist Laissez-faire economic freedom and individualism. That is what this country needs today".

The above words she spoke in 1959 and they still hold true today. In other interviews she discusses religion and God in which I find some of her comments offensive against those that believe but she did say regardless people should have the right to do what they want in that respect. I think people that want to win over the masses should tread carefully in this area so the larger message individualism is not disregarded.

What do you have against Ayn?

I watched this interview a while back...good stuff

Maybe what he is saying is how would the message of economic freedom and individualism be accepted by the mainstream when you are presenting it as a black and white video from the 50s with a freakish looking woman that has a thick Russian accent.

It is all about marketing. It might make us look like kooks and might not be a good way of selling freedom to the masses. This particularly when you have a nation that votes for President like they are voting for an American Idol contestent.

Her shifty eyes are a big distraction. Maybe later I'll have time to just listen without watching the video.
