A state is seceding to restore its' inhabitant's liberty. In what part of the country would you most want to see it ? Odds of a particular state being the first to secede not relevant here.

A handful of states are listed specifically as choices, including Texas.

Sorry, that poll option should read: "New England (not inc. N.H.)"

How can you not include Vermont, with one of the strongest secession movements?

New Hampshire. The Free State Project is there. Hopefully they can secede when enough people move.

I don't think most states could afford to secede alone. States like Texas that are rich in natural resources definitely could though.

Come on Texas!

Could the Cap and Trade Tax Bill push Texas to Secede from the Union?

I'd say New Hampshire is the most likely and the most deserving...

But I'd love to see Texas seceed...just because.

Why are The Southwest and Texas listed seperately when Texas is in, and is over 25% of, the Southwest?

In your mind's eye, please add my Southwest vote to the Texas total, as that's where Texas is.

I voted for Texas because I live in Texas.

Ive never really heard of anything solid coming from Vermont, but if the movement is so strong, why would they not hop over the border to NH and no less double the numbers?

Any small state could and should become North America's tax haven, ala Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein: 62 sq miles, per capita GDP of $118,000.

As long as it's someplace agriculture-friendly with decent natural resources and temperate climate, I'm down for it-and so is my pet bunchies. :)

Well I wouldn't mind seeing the second rise of the confederacy. I think the problems We have can not be solved and will not be solved. So in my opinion the red states need to break away from the blue states and people should move to what ever states they want too. More than likely the Liberal filth and big government lovers will infiltrate the free states and start the same crap all over again.

Needs to be a coastal state, for obvious reasons ...

Sorry, I'm dense I guess, what are the obvious reasons ?

Isn't that basically happening to the southern states like Texas & New Mexico? Hispanic legal & illegal immigrants are coming in from Socialist Mexico and voting for big-government politicians. If I'm wrong I would love for someone from that area to enlighten me. Personally, I would love for the Confederacy to rise from the grave & take New Hampshire & a few other states with it, haha.

Trade.

If a state secedes, you can almost guarantee the state will be considered an enemy to the United States and it would no longer be acceptable (illegal) to trade with said state.

I'm rooting for New Hampshire, but I'll move anywhere that a voluntary society emerges first.

Because Vermont is a more independent progressive type than libertarian. That's why they have the Progressive Party as a pretty strong third party and Bernie Sanders as a Senator.

I thought I heard of formal polling done where those in favor of secession were like 13% or something. They wanted to make a tax haven and capitalize on being on the border between Canada and the US.

Why does trade have to involve ships ? If it's Texas or Montana, wouldn't air or rail work for importing and exporting goods coming in from Mexico or Canada ?

Trade would have to happen with more than two nations. And rail and airspace controlled by someone else, especially a nation peeved at you because you left them in the dirt, is unsettling. Besides, why wouldn't shipping to Texas involve ships?

It seems any border state would have adequate trade options with goods on rail/air from or through Canada or Mexico from anywhere in the world.

As much as I would love to say Texas, I don't think scession is an option for any individual state. The rest of the country and the blue helmets would never allow it especially because of these natural resources. Why was Texas so quick to join up with the US after gaining their independence from Mexico? With the resources and 2 massive countries on either side of it, Texas really had no choice in the matter.
