Who would you support for Massachusetts Senate?

Those candidates don't differ on much if anything, but Cloud has much better name recognition in MA and he's gotten around 17% in a senate election against John Kerry as a Libertarian.

In the brief research I've done, it seems that Cloud and Howell have already proven themselves - by pushing the no-sales-tax proposal and by having impressive senate runs. However, in Howell's race there was a Republican running and in Cloud's there was not. Plus she's a woman.

I can't find much on Hedlund, other than that article by Dondero. Phillies doesn't seem to have the oomph with no major runs at office.

Last I knew Cloud and Howell were an item...not married but pretty much. Cloud is a great speaker in a motivational speaker kind of way...Howell is more of a "I'm on a mission, stay out of my way" type of speaker.

Phillies strikes me as a book smart whiney type of guy...

IMHO

If Dondero supports Hedlund then he is the neo con monkey wrench that is being thrown in.

There it is, in the comment section of Dondero0o's "I hate libertarians" site:
Eric Dondero0o said...
Hey Gary, you might be interested to note, that Bob was a close ally of Mitt Romney's when he was Governor.

What's the deal with Dondero?

Ya, I would imagine they'd decide amongst themselves as opposed to running against each other.

He's a neo-con who has a chip on his shoulder ever since Ron Paul fired him for watching porn at work (http://www.confessionpost.com/view.php?id=6525). Now he attacks libertarians in the only way he knows how, by claiming to be a "libertarian republican" and defining the term as anyone who hates libertarians...especially the ones that fire you for masturbating at work.

I think I saw some video of Hedlund at a Ron Paul rally...hopefully I can find it.

Hedlund is one of the only Massachusetts State Senators who hasn't endorsed Baker for Governor(Baker is generally the GOP establishment candidate). If you read Dondero's article, he was plugging Baker for some reason (a few months ago Dondero had been plugging Mihos, a former Independent turned Republican).

Hedlund hasn't voted on everything on our side, but he is better than alot of the GOP up there it seems.

Please don't give us Phillies...he has extremely doctrinaire views on libertarianism- as in, if you don't agree with him you are not in fact a libertarian. He constantly trashes Ron Paul(I once saw one of the worst tirades against Ron Paul on DKos and when I looked at who wrote it it was Phillies).

That pair of Libertarians seems good but it all depends on how strong their party affiliation will affect their chances. They are still minor party, which is a quite significant roadblock to getting past 15%.

Hedlund did endorse Ron Paul.

I voted Howell - I've read she is interested. But I could easily support Cloud. They are both solid Libertarians with a history of strong support. Howell got 12% of the vote in the 2000 election, running against Kennedy. The Republican candidate got 13% of the vote. Howell chaired the 2002 ballot initiative to end the state income tax, which got 45% of the vote, and is president of the Center For Small Government.

for good or ill, mister phillies took on bob barr in 2oo8 and yes... i signed HIS petition in addition
to chuck baldwin's --- if we are also trying to pull in the LIBERTARIANs at the national level,
if we run mr. phillies, will this alienate 'bob barr' Libertarians? Howell & Cloud may have more
backers at the state level. baldwin & barr battled and split many of us here, i ended up voting
for the Green Party person at the national level. (right now she sorta ended up traveling to
the mid-east longer than she planned to. long story!) could we sorta have THREE petitions out there
as soon as possible so we can "front porch campaign" DRAFt someone a.s.a.p and not be caught napping?

could we coax christy mihos or mr. hedlund INTO the g.o.p primary as we also have THREE Libertarian Party people with petitions
out there? is it worth it to get a Constitution Party person on the ballot, too? the idea is to shake up our chigar chompers by crashing
into their good old boy network game. christy mihos might be open if baker has a lead in terms of the governor's mansion. he had a
nifty cartoon about the big dig that bears repeating. i also think mr. beatty and jim ogonowski could be approached. both these guys
took on senator kerry... they just ran in 2oo8 and have their supporters lists and the like... i feel that unless we do AUDIT THE FED feelers, we
will get a neo-con running against all our OBAMA democrats! we need to moneybomb most rEVOLUTIOn style all END THE FED candidates...
