U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins told a recent gathering in northeast Kansas that the Republican Party is looking for a "great white hope" to help stop the political agenda of the Democratic party and President Barack Obama.

 I, for one, would go for a great brown hope in a heartbeat if (s)he could out-charisma Obama and represent us and liberty.

Is it my imagination, or do Kansans really, really like to get themselves in trouble?

I think the Republicans will settle for someone Jewish. That way he can be both - white and minority.
Then he and Obama can take turns playing the racist and anti-semite cards.

How about this guy?

I like Alan Keyes quite a bit in the early days. Either he went off the deep end or simply has no political savvy. Either way, I don't think that will cut it.

Well, we should replace Obama with James Earl Jones then, for continuity's sake :)

But seriously, Lynn from Kansas needs to STFU and take a seat.

Yeah, if all we're after is a figurehead anyway why not one with an impressive baritone voice? ;) Of course, some Republicans (mostly the new ones) do favor substance over style. You don't suppose that could catch on, do you?

Alan Keyes begins the story of how the Illinois Republican Party partially created the Barack Obama we know now. It's a fun story, actually.

Wish Colin Powell hadn't signed on with Dubya. He really, really seems to have let his conscience be his guide in the end, but it sure did take too long. With that one, though, I detect some manner of principle but I've never heard him articulate what those principles are. Is he a conservative or a con?

The more I listen to Colin Powell speak the more he's like Ron Paul.

Like how they can both form sentances with their brains, breath and muscles?

Seriously though, this "great white hope" comment is ridiculous and IMO made to keep the butts in the seats and the D vs. R rivalry going. Smoke & mirrors.

Oooo the outrage, blah, blah, blah. Can't let those repubs/dems win, blah, blah, blah.. Beck and Oberman will be sure to tell ya all about it...:)

In my usual fashion, I had to check out check out Olbermann just to see exactly what the sh--head was up to. Great motivational tool. Nonetheless, I swear I heard the punk say that he has never been more disappointed to be white. Might have been something like "disappointed to be who I am" but without a doubt he meant he was ashamed of being a white person. The insanity never stops. He isn't ashamed of the Congresswoman representing the United States, or the people in her district who now look like racists, or the fact that he is the biggest bigot on television, but he is instead ashamed of the color of his skin. And of course he was discussing this with the most racist (and most mentally deficient) woman in Congress, Maxine Waters. I think I'm ashamed of this country for accepting such radical, distorted, totalitarian and racist media.

Doesn't Colin Powell support affirmative action?

I think she just meant "good" as in "bright" or "whiter than white".

Colin Powell supports the Left-Wing of the Republican Party.

Really? I'm a big fan of Powell, he is one of the few truly honest people in politics IMO, despite the Iraq UN fiasco. I've never heard him talk about ending the Fed or other Ron Paul ideas. He seems more like a pragmatic Democrat lately, but who knows....
