Please help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 for the October 1st Free State Project Money Bomb (http://wheresliberty.org/?q=20k_for_20k). The FSP is funded solely on volunteer donations and if we are able to reach the $20k goal, the FSP would not have to worry about funding for advertising or events. The goal is less than 5% of what we raised for the Rand Paul Money Bomb so I think this is very attainable with your help.

Donations should be made to http://www.freestateproject.org/volunteer/donate Even $5 will help. Please also help us spread the word.

You can pledge your support here - http://wheresliberty.org/?q=20k_for_20k

Facebook Event (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=162322516744) if you would like to add it.

For every $100 you donate, you will receive a 1 oz silver round pictured below.

In case you are not familiar with the Free State Project, here is information from the FSP website (http://www.freestateproject.org/):

The Free State Project is an effort to recruit 20,000 liberty-loving people to move to New Hampshire. We are looking for neighborly, productive, tolerant folks from all walks of life, of all ages, creeds, and colors who agree to the political philosophy expressed in our Statement of Intent, that government exists at most to protect people's rights, and should neither provide for people nor punish them for activities that interfere with no one else.

When you sign our Statement of Intent, you signal your commitment to move to the chosen free state, New Hampshire, within five years of obtaining 19,999 other people who commit to move. The more signatures we get, the more secure people can be in their decision to move, because they know that many other people will also be moving— enough to make a real difference! You don't have to wait until we have 20,000 signatures to move, of course, but that option is there to let you be more secure in your decision.

Ron Paul has endorsed the Free State Project and spoken at past FSP events:

"I am a friend of the Free State Project. Absolutely! Check it out, find out, and if you like it, join, and continue the effort."

Is there anything such as a Rand Paul Graph where one can find how many people have signed the pledge each month? And, if not, does anyone have a rough guesstimate?

I meant the pledge to move to New Hampshire. I know it's at almost 10,000, but is it still growing regularly or has it leveled off?

Oh, I misunderstood. This page (http://www.freestateproject.org/about/membership.php) on the website is full of stats on membership. Membership seems to be growing steadily and really takes off from time to time when the FSP is in the news.

Many thanks. The FSP is getting new participants and new movers all the time. It appears that some end of the summer moving push is spontaneously taking place, and I can't keep track of all the recent new movers.

Update: Over 200 people have pledged on the website and the Facebook event. Please help spread the word and pledge to donate to help out this great organization.

I firmly believe concentration of activism is key for the success of this movement. If we can get 20,000+ liberty activists to move to New Hampshire, we will succeed. Once people see a free and prosperous New Hampshire, the success will spread to other areas.

If you cannot pledge to move to New Hampshire for the FSP, this is a great way to help out and encourage others to join and get active for liberty.

What is the cost of living in New Hampshire? And generally, how much does it cost for a two year course in generals at a local community college? Anyone know off hand?

Also, how's the economy there -- are people at work, making decent money?

I'd suggest going to http://forum.freestateproject.org/ and checking with the Free Staters. For years, that site seemed to be the only place for real liberty discussion much like this site once was.

At one point I was flown up there for a job interview but the contract they were going to hire me for didn't pan out.

Now, if they reach the 20,000 person mark I'll have to spend 5 years convincing my wife that freedom is better than warm beaches.

I agree with Elwar that the FSP Forum (http://forum.freestateproject.org/) would be able to answer these questions best.

However, I can tell you in general what I know. The cost of living in New Hampshire is relatively low considering it is one of the lowest taxed states among other reasons. It also depends on where in the state because some cities have higher property taxes than others. Not sure about colleges but I'm sure tuition costs are comparable to other locations if not lower.

The economy is good in New Hampshire and has been performing much better than other states during the recession.

101 Reasons to Move to New Hampshire (http://www.freestateproject.org/101Reasons) has some good stats that would further answer your questions.

I also endorse going to the FSP forum to ask your more pointed questions. I can help a little, but many over there are much more knowledgeable than I. Off the top of my head, most comm colleges are pretty cheap. My standard of living is better than it was in Michigan since there is no state income nor general sales taxes here. Prop taxes aren't the best, but it all depends on where you choose to live here. Either way, we have the lowest taxes, bottom line, than any other state on the mainland. And our gun rights go very well with the low taxes. No seat belt laws nor mandatory car insurance. I could go on...

The money bomb is about a month away and we already have over 250 people who have pledged their participation. If you would be willing to also help by inviting liberty loving friends to this event and spreading the word through Facebook, blogs, forums, etc., we will be able to reach the $20,000 goal.

Less than one week before the money bomb and I think the recent mass marijuana civil disobedience (http://freekeene.com/) should provide some good incentive to make a contribution so we can get more courageous activists to make the move or sign up.

What states are you targeting for your advertisements and recruiting?

I'm not sure where they would be targeting. Hopefully somebody on the FSP board will see this and respond. I know in the past they have had vendor tables at Ron Paul events, advertised on Lew Rockwell podcasts, these forums, and Free Talk Live. There are some smart people working for the FSP so I know my money will be spent well in a very targeted way so they get the most return on investment.

Below is an email I recieved today from the FSP about the event:

http://www.freestateproject.org/images/top_01.gifhttp://www.freestateproject.org/images/top_02.gif

Dear Freestaters and Friends,

On Thursday, October 1, the Free State Project's will celebrate its 6th Anniversary in New Hampshire! If you haven't checked the move counter recently, we're nearing the 10,000 participant mark—halfway to the Free State Project's goal. We'd like to continue spreading our message of freedom and smaller government to prospective participants, and we need your help to do it!

So, this Thursday, October 1, the Free State Project will hold a “moneybomb” fundraiser: “$20,000 for 20,000”. Our goal is very simple: raise at least $20,000 in ONE day. Your donations will be used to continue our outreach campaigns in web, print, and broadcast media. The donation page is located at moneybomb.wheresliberty.org (http://moneybomb.wheresliberty.org/)

Everyone knows that times are tough. So this year, the Free State Project would like to recognize the financial contributions from our generous donors. The Free State Project has partnered with the American Open Currency Standard, Inc. to produce a Free State Project 1 oz.-silver commemorative medallion. Each silver round is minted .999 fine and embodies the Free State Project's message.

http://www.wheresliberty.org/files/fsp-silver.png

This Thursday, October 1, when you donate at least $100 to the Free State Project, one of these 1 oz. silver rounds is our gift to you.

But then we had a thought: “What if someone donates $200? Should they get two silver rounds?” YES! In fact, for EACH $100 you generously give to the Free State Project, we will give you an ADDITIONAL silver round. And if you donate at least $1,000, you will receive 11 silver rounds total. And for those very generous individuals, a donation of at least $2,500 will earn you an amazing--and heavy--30silver rounds.

Of course, not everyone can make such a large contribution. But every dollar helps the Free State Project move towards its goal of 20,000 participants.

This Thursday, October 1st, the Free State Project asks for your support. Participants and friends make the Free State Project possible. Your financial support makes the Free State Project happen. Please visit moneybomb.wheresliberty.org (http://www.wheresliberty.org/) and make your pledge today!

Yours in liberty,

B.D. Ross
Director of Development
Free State Project

P.S. Many people have inquired about purchasing the Free State Project 1 oz. silver rounds. Sorry folks, they aren't for sale in the FSP store. If you wish to purchase one, please consider donating at the $100 level. This is a special silver round, and the proceeds will support the Free State Project's continuing outreach to prospective participants.

P.P.S. Liberty Forum 2010 will be held March 18-21, 2010. Registration opens on October 15, 2009. Do NOT wait to reserve your spot! We're expecting a great line-up of speakers this year, and we hope to see you there!

Wow, 12 contributors and over $4150 raised, some hefty spenders today before the bomb even started. Sounds like that silver oz was a great incentive... We also had 7 new signups (perhaps as many as 10) today for the FSP in addition to all the dollars raised. We have all day tomorrow as well as part of the following day to complete this moneybomb for the Free State Project. This Project is the single-most powerful movement for "Liberty in Our Lifetime." Hopefully, more people will see this concept as getting more mainstream in the liberty movement. I agree with funding national liberty candidates, but (you have to) admit that the FSP is at the top of the list, especially if you plan on moving to NH via this movement. It's easier to coral liberty personnel to NH than to get enough liberty candidates elected nationwide over a set amount of time to make an equal amount of difference.

I couldn't agree more! And wow, now ever $4,500 raised in 30 minutes! I threw in $100 but maybe I'll go for another $100 since this is really exciting me (and I want another silver round). If we can keep up some of this momentum, this will be a HUGE success for the FSP and will really help get the message out to a ton of people in the liberty movement.

Yes, I think this is FAR more valuable than running candidates. And the goal and money the organization needs to run is significantly less.

If we just gave a fraction of what we give to candidates to the FSP they would have the funds they need to advertise and get to the 20,000 signer point so the FSP can really get started. The FSP has done very well with only a couple hundred people who have moved. Imagine 20,000 movers!
