I posted a thread a while back, where a newspaper in AZ said Mack was considerign a run for governor. I e-mailed him about it

his reply:

Thanks. I appreciate your help. I am seriously considering the run for governor and if we did a money bomb and raised 2 or 3 hundred thousand I'd probably do it. My wife is so concerned about the financial aspects of running and that I would be forced tp spend our life savings and retirement on the race. If I could show her the people are behind me I am sure it would convince her. I'll check with some other people about it here in Az.
RM

Lets show him (and his wife) that "the people are behind him"

Anybody down for this???

I would help promote it but I am no goood with building websites and that type of stuff. When/if we can organize a $ bomb, we should also have a day where everyone calls/e-mails their local sheriffs to donate to his campaign.

Personally, I'd have to know more about his positions as he'll be running for governor of a state where the issue of abortion will play a role in my decision. I might.

What's the story on this race? Does he have a chance?

Unless he simply slipped up, at 0:48 in the first vid above he said he's running for guv of UTAH. Which is it, is he currently a resident of UT or AZ?

He might have a pretty serious image/ethics issue to overcome. I mentioned it in a previous thread (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=191441&page=2) and no one responded to it:

The article is 15 years old. I am sure if it was a major issue it came up in his other runs for office.I didn't read the whole thing (like 10 pages), but from what I can gather from the first couple pages it sounds like his department may have had an investigation that was sub-par during the time he was preparing for a supreme court case.

Debbie Campbell, who initiated the latest recall, says Mack angered some Safford residents with his antigovernment rhetoric.

A love triangle thing between three snitches heavily into the meth scene; surprising any of them are still walking the planet- if they are.

It's apparently more than just an incompetent investigation - the article alleges/implies abuse of power, ethical violations and such. Sheriff Mack apparently protected a friend.

I had mentioned Sheriff Mack's book/etc. on another forum and got a response including that link within an hour. It may be old news, but it's out there and anyone looking to run for a high profile office better have some answers/spin to explain it to Joe Sixpack or it could torpedo a campaign. $.02

Mack comes from a Mormon background. I'm pretty sure he's against abortion.

But to be sure, you can e-mail him and ask using this information: http://www.sheriffmack.com/index.php/contact-us-mainmenu-3

That would be an issue for me, too, so it'll be good to find out for sure.

the paper had a couple hit piece articles on Mack. Did you see my previous post about them trying to recall him for his "antigovernment rhetoric"

Seems to me more like the paper was trying to attack him based on his political views. funny it happened at the same time he was fighting at the supreme court for guns rights...they wouldn't have been trying to discredit him would they:rolleyes:

The paper said the DA agreed with Mack on the investigation. Do you have anything besides that articlee to go on. Unless there is more proof than a 15 year old article from a paper with a vendetta against him I am not too worried about it.

I know there have been several money bombs lately, but what do you expect. We are not just promoting one campaign for president anymore. We are promoting liberty candidates Running for all kinds of different offices. I don't have a ton of money, so my donations are usually small, but I donate a little to all the projects I support, as well as time promoting them. I don't want to tell you what to do with your money by any means. support what you want, when you want, and how you want. But what do you mean we are taking our eyes off the prize? which prize? who's prize? What good is it going to do us to get 1 or 2 candidates in office. they are not going to override the votes of the other 500+ jackasses in washington. We need all the candidates we can get, it will not happen on its own.

It just seems like we could be beginning to reach the point where dozens of candidates are being supported by a small number of people. Let's say 20,000 or so. ...Sounds like an old island analogy.

Anyway, I subscribe to the belief that even if we have a couple of people in the Congress, more specifically the Senate, they can be the in-betweens on close votes. I believe it was someone from the Liberty Camp, maybe Dr. Paul, who stated that if there are five or six Senators that agree with us on most issues, they will be the swing votes and can control the agenda on several issues.

Example: If all of the Republicans had been strictly partisan for the Stimulus, it wouldn't have passed. The second vote had only 60 yay votes. Just one Senator could have stopped it.

Schiff and Rand are important, I think the vast majority of us will agree with that. But we need to draw a line in the sand on who the big players should be. Sure, everyone should be able to donate to whomever they feel like, but there should be a few candidates that we can pledge our complete support behind.

On the topic of Sheriff Mack, if the good Sheriff's wife is worried about their retirement, it will only bring stress to their lives and won't help him on the campaign trail.

That is my $0.02.
