SAN DIEGO, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- A couple who own a California defense contracting company have admitted bribing an employee of a Navy installation in San Diego.

Louis Williams and his wife, Elizabeth Ramos, agreed to cooperate with government investigators and to testify against others if needed, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Thursday. They admitted Wednesday they paid bribes to get contracts for their company, Technical Logistics Corp. of National City, from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center San Diego.

Ramos and Williams said they bribed Gary Alexander, former head of the center's air surveillance branch, for almost a decade. They said they paid Alexander and his wife between $200,000 and $400,000 in cash and gave them numerous gifts.

The plea agreement calls for Williams and Ramos to testify against the Alexanders and two other targets of the investigation, one of them described as Gary Alexander's girlfriend.
