2nd Amendment and Gun Laws

This is the one thing I don't really understand about the freedom to bear arms. If we have the right to have a gun, then why is the only recognizable (by the state/fed) 'legal' way to have them is to register them and be put on a special list of people who own guns? Isn't it akin to telling the enemy your armory?

Well, up here in NH we don't need purchase permits for gun buys nor permits to open carry. And the concealed carry permits aren't put into some mega-government database. Most states suck on gun rights but NH ain't one of them.
