There's nothing about Dr. Paul on the Larry King website, but here's the exerpt for tonights show.

Healthcare Reform Debate

Penn Jillette, Ben Stein & James Carville! They're talking healthcare reform -- and they're not holding back! What they think the president and congress are doing right and wrong! Plus, President Obama's former physician!

So far so good. I think he could have been a tad bit more articulate on certain points, but he represents the message well obviously.

ya... i watched it, but no one has put it on youtube yet.

i was probably a 15 - 20 min segment with the host, Ron Paul, and two pro-Obama guys. they just talked about healthcare. ron paul didn't get too long to speak, but he definately held his own and made some good points. but it wasn't anything too spectacular or anything. Ron Paul did a descent job, but he didn't mop the floor with them or anything. The other two were talking about how big a success Medicare was, and i don't feel like ron paul really explained how large the unfunded liabilities were and that the medicare system isn't sustainable or a success.

That was good!

When he announced it, he said RAND Paul would be on - lets hope in the next few days.

Pretty fair distribution of conversation, but I didn't like Paul being cut off (multiple times). Lets hope he gets him back SOON! - as promised!

Really - Ron's reactions to what was said said more than what he voiced.

OK - you're right... Paul came out and admitted he's secretly a supporter of one world government and just ran so the JBT's could ID us and lock us up in interment/re-education camps. He even displayed his commie workers party card....

Ron Paul did well

he advocated "more freedom" is health care - saying that the problems have developed because of "managed care" and government intervention.

The leftist said that insurance companies deny stuff to people right now, and that isn't consistent with freedom.

Then Ron Paul reminded him that RP had said that what we have now isn't a free market, so any criticisms being made against the current system are against the government managed system.

RSLudlum
08-18-2009, 10:22 PM
Looked like RP was getting quite annoyed that he wasn't allowed to finish some of his point without interruption. He got a little fiesty there overtalking the other guest yelling "THEY'RE BROKE!!" :)

SimpleName
08-18-2009, 10:23 PM
Paul wasn't magnificent or anything. It was average or below average. Very fair and well balanced, but still didn't come across like I had hoped. I'm an amateur to the health care system and Paul really didn't say anything (beyond freedom) that would've convinced me if I weren't already libertarian. He mentioned Medicare was broke. That's about it.

EDIT: Sanjay Gupta's constant smirk is driving me nuts!

It's so nice to see Paul included in televised discussions of health care these days. One of the most infuriating things about how the MSM covered the 2007-2008 primary debates was the way they studiously avoided asking Paul (the only doctor in the race) anything about health care reform.

It is official!!
Headline should read "Sanjay Gupta hates the human race"...
as he admits that individuals cannot be trusted to something so important as caring for one another, instead a small group of men (which, astonishingly are are not evil) should be allowed to direct care for the many.

georgiaboy
08-21-2009, 06:57 AM
^yeah -- Ron was trying to squeeze in there the counterpoint to Gupta's, which of course is "so instead of relying on the goodness of people we're going to rely on the goodness of government?"

Ron could've also emphasized the government intervention when the non-profit guy stated that his biggest impediment in the US was government restrictions, not the willingness of people to help out.

Overall, Ron made some good points for those willing to really listen, though the segments weren't Ron's best, and I agree that it's awesome that he at least gets a seat at the table. Breath of fresh air.
