View Full Version : Utilizing Ron Paul's Facebook Page With 137k Supporters?

I've been trying to find out who runs the Ron Paul Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/ronpaul?v=info&viewas=1058828899&ref=search) that has over 137,160 supporters.

The page hasn't posted anything since June 13th 2008 which I think is a HUGE waste of potential because all these supporters could be seeing things periodically on their News Feeds if the Ron Paul page would post them.

For example, if something could be posted about the Rand Paul Money Bomb and only 3.5% of these people who are supporters donated, that would be an extra 5,000 donations!

How can we find out who runs this and get them to utilize the amazing potential of this page? This is over 100,000 Ron Paul supporters who can be directly reached about important events.

This is a good project as well, but with what I'm talking about that many people can be reached in about 30 seconds and only requires one person to do something. The MySpace project is a much larger task that requires a ton of participation and a lot of time.

I just sent a message to Paul's congressional office Secretary. She's also a member on this forum.

I'd be hardpressed to find anything more important than this.

He could instantly communicate with 135k people...

That's pretty important.

He should be posting messages there just like Palin does.

Yes, I really think we need to be focusing on figuring out how to access this before the 20th.

Additionally, it would be great to get some periodic updates from whoever is in control of it for important events. It could be a central hub for distributing information and we could try to increase the amount of supporters to 150,000+ by inviting others.

Sarah Palin has done this well and now has about 800,000 supporters! She gets thousands of comments when she posts something and everybody who is active on Facebook sees whatever she posts.

can we get Facebook to turn it over to Ron Paul's campaign people?

I'm not sure if they are allowed to do that unless whoever is running it agrees. Is it not already somebody who works for Ron Paul? The pasts posts seem to indicate that was the case.

TruthIsTreason stated that apparently Ron Paul (or his campaign) didn't own it...

this is odd though...

Somebody on RP's staff needs to get in contact with facebook...

we think Ron Paul's former communications director Kent Snyder ran it and he passed away in June 2008 which is when the last message was posted

If that is the case, somebody from Ron Paul's staff or CFL will probably have to get in contact with Facebook and explain the situation to be added as an administrator of the page. Might be too late for this money bomb unfortunately.

Who would be the right person to be in charge of this page? Somebody like Jeff Frazee maybe?

If that page is the official Ron Paul page, then Ron Paul should take it over and start posting. It's just one more avenue to reach thousands of people.

Awesome, thanks Matt! I really think this could be huge if we can get it up and running well. Image over 100,000 people who already support Ron Paul seeing updates directly on their news feed!

I bugged Rand about this yesterday and he's having Jesse Benton look into it. I also recommended Mark Elam as the email addy is to the ronpaulforcongress.com people.

I am an admin for the RP 2008 Facebook group, but there is no capability to mass message the group. There's not much we can do with it.

Unfortunately, I am unaware of who "owns" RP's page or profile. It may be his grandson, Matt.
