Alkhateeb says he wasn't actively trying to cover his tracks, but he did want to lay low. He initially had concerns about ...

... connecting his name with anything critical of the president -- especially living in Chicago, where people are "very, very liberal," he said.

If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.
George Washington

Why are people so scared to be critical.

If it was against Bush, he would have found himself in Guantanamo.

He said he is "republican" on domestic policy and "democrat" on foreign policy... which would put him somewhere on the libertarian spectrum - but he mentioned Kucinich (not a domestic "republican") instead of Ron Paul as his favorite politician...

Atleast he's not a LaRouche cult member.

Thank goodness. Let the Kucinich peaceniks take some flak for awhile. Who knows, he may be a ron pauler just deflecting for us.

why should we be ashamed of being affiliated with the Joker poster? Obama's is now disapproved of by the majority of Americans, with 41% STRONGLY disapproving.

we will never win anything until we DEMONIZE our adversaries. Demonization works.

Who said anything about shame? Certainly not I. There is a difference between being ashamed and painting a target.

i think if we attached ourselves to the Joker mania, we could attract some neo-cons and perhaps re-educate them.

This joker thing has become a real phenomenom

Regardless, Alkhateeb does agree with the Obama "Hope" artist about "socialism" being the wrong caption for the Joker image. "It really doesn't make any sense to me at all," he said. "To accuse him of being a socialist is really ... immature. First of all, who said being a socialist is evil?"

Who says socialism is evil? Wow.

ironic isnst it? He states that he waqs afraid to come forward due to the liberals in Chicago....then in the next breath says socialism isnt evil.

he's engaging in doublethink because socialism is the ultimate manifestation of the peer pressure that he admits to fearing

Not everybody thinks of the USSR when you mention socialism. Some people simply think of things like public transportation or public healthcare. Both are things that have worked at least partially in European countries for the past decade.

This is not the rest of the story as Paul Harvey used to say.

From the Article

Then the counter exploded after a still-anonymous rogue famously found his image, digitally removed the references to Time Magazine, captioned the picture with the word "socialism" and hung printed copies around L.A., making headlines.

So the person who turned it into the socialism poster and really got this started is still unknown.

Who could it be? Will they now come forward?

After just now reading about all of this Joker hysteria, I am glad I have kept my nose out of politics lately.
