I think Ron Paul should be the first to coin the leading democrats as being "NEO-LIBS" that want to continue the war.... everyone is hammering them in the news for wanting to stay in Iraq till 2013 or possibly even longer!!!

He needs to get the word out he's really the only candidate that wants to pull out troops NOW and stop the bleeding of our troops, our military resources and all the trillions of wasted capital in this futile war.......

The moment is very ripe for the rage against the war from both parties, he needs to capitalize on it!!

agree/disagree?

Yeep, pretty much every democratic candidate is a neo-lib. The only exceptions are Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel. They're "true" liberals.

Be careful with the label neo-liberal. In Mexico it is used to denominate someone who supports free market reforms.

When Vicente Fox wanted to privatise Pemex, he was called "neo-liberal".

It should have been neo-classical liberal in that case then.

But neo is short for neoclassical anyway I suppose. w/e, liberal as it's used here doesn't mean the same thing outside the united states anyway. Man, semantics suck.

Yeah, the official definition of neoliberalism basically means classic liberalism but with free trade. Then again, a word like corporatism has an official definition (something with where government runs all the interest groups or something) that is far different from the common usage, but no one really gets upset by that.

I know...and in fact many people they call neoliberal aren't at all.

Bush is also accused of spreading "neoliberal" policies throughout Latin America.

Bush isn't a neoliberal. Vicente Fox was, but el Congreso kept blocking every reform that was presented.

Felipe Calderon isn't as good as Fox, but he sure beats Hugo Chavez!

"neoconservatism" is not anywhere remotely conservative.

What is the difference between Liberalism and Neoliberalism? On wikipedia, they say Reagan is a neoliberal.

"Neoliberal" is actually already a word and it doesn't mean the modern day, self-proclaimed liberals that don't actually support liberty.

(Bill) Clinton was a neo-liberal. Obama is basically one, too. The Democratic party does support the "free-market", but when they say it, it means NAFTA, CAFTA, corporate globalism, etc.
