GAINESVILLE — A Gainesville father has been arrested for hitting his daughter with a pizza slice.

The 38-year-old man was arrested early Friday on a charge of child abuse without great harm, a third-degree felony. The man’s name was being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

Deputy Nick Vickers says the man used racist and sexist terms when he asked his daughter to turn off her computer, and she fired back with some crude language of her own.

Vickers says the father “intentionally threw a slice of pizza at the victim, striking her in the back of the neck, against her will.”

The girl, whose age was not available, called 911 and her father was arrested.

Guess it's time for the girl to take a hike. Nobody would live in my house if they pulled such a stunt.

My mom threw a piece of pizza at my dad when he implied she was fat. Does that mean my mom is a felon?

Awesome.

One of the worst felonies ever:

Do you mean this guy?
Lautenberg (http://www.search.com/reference/Frank_Lautenberg) author of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban? (http://www.search.com/reference/Domestic_Violence_Offender_Gun_Ban)

Seems like he would be too old to have a kid living in his home.

He has been responsible for some of the worst laws on the books.

Well, I really hope you got rid of your trouble makers.
I wouldn't have anybody living in my home who would call the police and cause that kind of trouble.

"I Hope You are Offended"

This past fall the Family Place, a Dallas-based abuse shelter, placed bus advertisements that generated intense controversy. One ad depicted a smiling boy who calmly predicts, "When I grow up, I will beat my wife." Trying to defend the spiteful ads, the Family Place director acidly told the Fox News reporter, "I hope you are offended."

A few weeks later Vickie Smith, director of the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, testified before the Illinois Family Law Study Committee that restraining orders should be issued without any requirement for evidence. "Kick the man out on a woman's word and a moment's notice" seemed to be the message.

These two incidents reveal how far the Violence Against Women Act has departed from its original laudable purpose -- to curb domestic violence. Now, VAWA funds are being used to promote harmful gender stereotypes and do away with even the pretense of due process.

Domestic violence is of course a problem, and we should do whatever we can to stop it. But our current approach has been a failure. As Angela Moore Parmley, PhD, of the Department of Justice put it, "We have no evidence to date that VAWA has led to a decrease in the overall levels of violence against women."

Erin Pizzey, founder of the first abuse shelter in the world, once described her peaceful vision of helping men, women, and children who have been victims of abuse. But according to Pizzey, "that vision was hijacked by vengeful women who have ghettoized the refuge movement and used it to persecute men."

Strong words.

But unless we understand how the domestic violence movement has gone wrong, we cannot reform VAWA. That's the focus of RADAR's current campaign, "Violence Against Women Act: Out of Control."

Nope,
She got some help, has not been drinking. Has gotten married and is still living here, has been the whole time.
This was an argument that got out of control only after the police were involved.
The only "violence" was her wailing on me. And I just restrained her till I got out and walked away.
She could not seriously hurt me on a good day.
And "if" I had hit her she would have needed hospitalization. It did not happen,
She told them it did not happen as soon as she sobered up.
But once is is in the hands of the state,,,,,

btw, 3 little kids now call me PoppaPete :D

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I would never let my married children live in my home. They have the responsibility to make it on their own.

Be careful though, if you try to kick them out, you might need to get an attorney and move out for a little while yourself so you don't have the cops called on you again for some charge they might try to bring against you for kicking them out.

I heard this a LOT discussing it.
Fact is, she has been doing far better in the last few years than she had in the 20+ years prior.
I see that as a good thing. despite the bullshit legal problems.

A good news addition.
I just got back home from Lisa's Baptism. :D

No she ain't perfect, but things are better these days.

Domestic Abuse is a serious issue. However this is yet another example of Government interference that makes the problem worse.

It seems that Government solutions never are solutions. :(

Not that easy, he would have been charged with child abandonment if he did that.
