On June 18, the Senate approved a non-binding resolution apologizing to African-Americans for the wrongs of slavery throughout America's history.

A recent article from CNN.com reported that "some members of the African-American community have called on lawmakers to give cash payments or other financial benefits to descendants of slaves as compensation for the suffering caused by slavery."

The famous judge, Andrew Napolitano, released a book in April that concerns the natural law on the rights to life, liberty, and property, regardless of age, race, or any other organization of human beings. He argues that government intervention and recognition of racial differences has even encouraged private companies to discriminate based on race.

In a truly free market economy, there is little incentive to discriminate because limiting your range of potential customers will make it harder for your business to survive.

The Senate could make a better apology by reintroducing the true free market and recognizing the individual rights of all African-Americans.
