FIGHTING WORDS FROM RAND

There’s a disconnect between primary voters and the party’s leadership,” said the younger Paul. “I don’t think Trey Grayson has a clue as to what that disconnect is. We hear that there are people who control the reins of power, and that they’ve got the party workers locked up, but I see so many new friends and faces wherever we go. We’re peeling them off in droves.”

They had hopes? We are their only hope. Which wouldn't bother them nearly as much if we, unlike the 'Moral Majority', would only be courteous enough not to demand actual reason, substance and, yes, morality in governance.

Lol..."quixotic" AND "gadfly" in one article.

If I had the time, I'd search those terms, see which media hack used them the most in one single Ron Paul article.

Not so sure about the Democratic party, but at the rate Obama and the Dem congressional leadership is going, the people will abadonon them in droves. I think the "disconnet" is with both party leadership. The Republicans are probably pretty scared about the "Ron Paul R3volution" that's starting to take root and grow. People are tired of politcs of old, politcs in the interest of big business to the detriment of the people. If either party wish to survive in the next decade they need to get back to basics quickly. I hope they don't and a new psuedo-third party springs up.

What I'm afraid of is the attempt to create a controlled opposition movement. I remember in the late 90's when the GOP and their propagandists were talking about small government and bitched about Clinton's foreign interventions and so forth. Bush was elected on that kind of rhetoric. Then what happened once they were in power?

They went back on everything they said and did everything they could to expand the federal government and executive branch's power. Most conservatives were tricked into supporting total government in the guise of national security and misguided patriotism. Then they handed all of that police state apparatus to a radical socialist.

I see the same pattern happening now. FOX news is toning down their fascist rhetoric (don't ever forget how they treated RP during the primaries), and giving airtime to vaguely libertarian anti-government commentators like Beck. I'm afraid the GOP will prop up a candidate (Sarah Palin or someone like her) that says the same things but is thoroughly controlled by the neoconservative leadership and people will fall for it again.

Good article. If the GOP was smart they would get behind these candidates. Although nobody has accused the GOP of being smart lately.

Early polling has not shown any support for Schiff, who would have to get through a state party convention and a primary open to independent voters to claim the Republican nomination.

That's a shame if true. Though there is still time.

I won't take polls seriously until Schiff announces officially he's in the race.
