"Barrack Obama Supporters plan on converging on Congressmans Ron Paul's office

This the Email sent to Barrack Obama Supporters:

People need to be at his offices with cameras. I have a feeling they will bring in ACORN from Houston and the surrounding areas along with the Union workers. Rep. Ron Paul is been a staunch critic of the Fed takeover of our economy as well as gaining momentum of audit the fed. Do not be surprised if they terrorize, disrupt and intimidate the staffers and constituents of his district. Just another reminder Galveston,Brazoria and Matagorda counties all applied for federal bailout money from the Fed. Lets be sure the local police and county Sheriffs do their jobs and not the bidding of the global elite.

HERE IS THE LETTER OBAMA SENT TO HIS SUPPORTERS:
Do not be deceived by this email. They have up their sleeve more than what they are saying

Friend --

All throughout August, our members of Congress are back in town. Insurance companies and partisan attack groups are stirring up fear with false rumors about the President's plan, and it's extremely important that folks like you speak up now.

So we've cooked up an easy, powerful way for you to make a big impression: Office Visits for Health Reform.

All this week, OFA members like you will be stopping by local congressional offices to show our support for insurance reform. You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story, or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.

We'll provide everything you need: the address, phone number, and open hours for the office, information about how the health care crisis affects your state for you to drop off (with the option of adding your personal story), and a step-by-step guide for your visit.

According to our records, you live near Rep. Ron Paul's office in Lake Jackson, TX.

Sign up now to visit Rep. Ron Paul's office in Lake Jackson this week.

(Not your representative, or think there might be another office that's easier for you to get to? Click here to find a different office.)

As you've probably seen in the news, special interest attack groups are stirring up partisan mobs with lies about health reform, and it's getting ugly. Across the country, members of Congress who support reform are being shouted down, physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and receiving death threats. We can't let extremists hijack this debate, or confuse Congress about where the people stand.

Office Visits for Health Reform are our chance to show that the vast majority of American voters know that the cost of inaction is too high to bear, and strongly support passing health reform in 2009.

Don't worry if you've never done anything like this before. The congressional staff is there to listen, and your opinion as a constituent matters a lot. And if you bring a friend, you'll have more fun and make an even greater impact.

Click below to sign up for an Office Visit for Health Reform:

http://my.barackobama.com...

Wherever you live, these visits matter: Many representatives are pushing hard toward reform, and they are taking a lot of heat from special interests. They deserve our thanks and need our support to continue the fight. But those who are still putting insurance companies and partisan point-scoring ahead of their constituents must know that voters are watching -- and that we expect better.

Earlier this week, the President wrote that "this is the moment our movement was built for" and asked us all to commit to join at least one event this month. This is the way to answer that call, and rise to the challenge of this moment together.

Thank you for going the extra mile when it matters the most,

Mitch

If there is one thing I am not concerned about, it is Congressman Paul's ability to probably end up converting these Purple-Shirt/Grimace confused socialists to a freedom message.

I suspect if they took video, they'd walk out of his office ripping off their Grimace shirts wallowing in their own political confusion.

I don't see any threats or the mention of "union thugs". It asks people to make civil visits to their representative. That is their right. It criticizes those who have used violence on the issue. Do you think a group would send people to do or threaten violence on a representative if they were seeking their support on an issue? This is a major over-reaction.

One of the few times that I basically agree with Zippy. I think this is a form letter sent to all people on the socialist mailing lists based on their congressional district with their Rep's name copied and pasted, probably even automated. I don't think it's targeting Ron Paul specifically. Given RP's reputation I don't see what they think would ever come of confronting him and his staffers except for opening a can of whoop ass if they dare to do more than minorly inconvenience the good Dr.

Having said that, all of yall in his district *must* keep tabs on this. If they do indeed set a date to try to disrupt his office, you guys need to be there in force. There was plenty of volunteer protection provided to RP during the campaign so I don't see why this would be any different. It only takes one brainwashed nutcase to escalate things out of hand.

This should also be cross posted to Grassroots Central if it hasn't already been.

I wonder how those talking hacks like Kieth UberHaterMann, Maddow, and the Mr Ed Show will spin this? Hmm? Maybe ABC's THIS WEEK with George Snuffleupagus can say it's alright for the socialists to organize and attack congressional members?

"Obama's cheer leading squad" should have woken all up to the Medical Insurance Fraud schemes they've been playing for quite some time now.

I have lots of interest in the arguments from the left. I also have NO respect for the regular connect a fact, talking point argument that they constantly come up with spewing garbage out of context. Oh the Hypocrisy in this country... how can these clowns be so blind? Then again... Dubya and 8 years of a NEOCON RINO middle finger to the people and US Constitution has created a lot of blind Hatred across the country.

Yeah, those Astroturf clowns take on Ron Paul and others for freedoms and liberties with their Janeane Garofalo crap and it's... GAME ON! ;)

The irony will be that if this does finally go through, I foresee the insurance companies making out like bandits. It'll just end up with some scheme where the insurance companies charge and the govt guarantees the payments, just watch. I have nothing to back this statement up with, except the history of how such legislation works...

Edit: and i forgot to add, it will be due to bi-partisanship.

"Organizing for America" (it's just Obama supporters) has a website where you can sign up to go to your senator/reps local office as a "grassroots" healthcare supporter. You leave some info and an "organizer" contacts you and makes arrangements for the visit. I don't think RP has been singled out. The email probably just went to Obama supporters who live in his district. There aren't any violent intentions.

I believe Ron Paul's office has been made aware of this, so let's just hope he's got plenty of pocket constitutions on hand. Paul will make this work to his advantage! It should be quite an education for them. I hope he will have someone there with a video camera!

The website talks about doing this "this week".
"Choose a day and time to sign up this week -- we want to have someone at each office throughout the day all throughout the week."

If you happen to be in or near Ron's district please keep track of the situation for the rest of us. If at all possible, go video it!

The main difference between the Union people and Ron Paul supporters is that RP's are more calmer and actually understand why they support Ron Paul and are not hired muscle. Ron Paul supporters understand what's at stake and I would hope would not hand the enemy a great PR piece. I think if there is any conflict or anything the Union people will come off a lot worse than Ron Paul and the Liberty/Freedom movement will.

Torch, this was my entire point - disarming a confrontational attitude. Once a confrontational attitude is deflated and disarmed, then a dialogue can (hopefully) be opened. Once a dialogue is opened, then Dr Paul can start educating. If the opposition refuses dialogue, then the egg is on their face. Win-win situation for us. Again, can Rachel possibly pass along the idea of Dr Paul INVITING the opposition to a town hall, specifically to address the health care issue? This would make a great press release, would it not?

So go there and be ready to stay calm, no matter how angry you get. Make yourselves look like Gandhi, and make them look like the British oppressors. This is the ONLY way to come out on top in this thing.

It's what they did to other 10 million that they were supposed to insure that is the problem.

Ok, now let me spell this out to you, because I usually have to with people like you:

This DOES NOT mean I support government run health care.

This means that there is a real problem with insurance bureaucrats systematically finding people to deny, which ends up wrecking those peoples lives. Let me repeat. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM.

Therefore, we should ACKNOWLEDGE the REAL PROBLEM and suggest free market-oriented solutions. I hope I made myself abundantly clear.

Maybe Ron should have the Unions or somebody else pick someone to to debate?

Nooooo, we don't want a debate, we want rational dialogue! Invite them in with open arms, let them ask their questions and receive straight-up answers. A debate is a confrontation.

This really could be an opportunity to make some headway.

In a HUGE way, if the cards are played just right!

Therefore, we should ACKNOWLEDGE the REAL PROBLEM and suggest free market-oriented solutions.

Exactly! Everyone agrees that we have a problem. The differences arise when it comes to exactly how the problem was caused, and what to do to fix it. Let the opposition know that we agree on WHAT the problem is, and that it needs to be solved - this can be done in a non-confrontational manner.

How about a press release, "Discuss the health care crisis with America's Doctor!" (Apologies to the ghoul, lol) Make sure there is a clearly stated rule that anyone causing a disruption will be ejected, and that security / police will be on hand to enforce this. Keep "us" and "them" physically separated in the venue if possible, that way problems cannot be blamed on "us". Since this is an issue that is national in scope, we could probably even get C-SPAN to cover it - think of the publicity! Imagine the headlines next day:

"America's Doctor Addresses The Health Care Crisis
Congressman Ron Paul's invitation to health care reform activists was a rousing success. For two hours, Dr Paul took questions from a crowd that many thought would be hostile..."

or

"Violence Erupts At Health Care Crisis Forum
Yesterday four members of the (whatever their union is) union and two ACORN organizers were arrested at a health care public forum sponsored by TX Congressman Ron Paul. Violence broke out when they were asked to leave after disrupting the event by interrupting Dr Paul as he answered questions posed by health care reform activists..."

This could very well be a win-win situation. This could be turned into an outreach opportunity on a national scale.

I've seen no source to confirm that
1)"union thugs" are involved,
2)that there's an intention to cause physical harm or
3)that Ron Paul has been singled out.

These are valid concerns but so far we have no reason to believe organizers are planning a brawl. I've looked at their website and it appears that this is just standard visit-your-rep-with-opposing-viewpoint stuff. C4L sends out similarly-targeted emails.

If you are (geographically) able to offer support, according to the OFA website:

WHEN:
They hope to schedule visits "throughout the day all throughout the week". So they plan to keep up a steady stream of visitors. Wording indicates this event takes place "this week", but we'll have to recheck that. It's unclear if visitors will be individuals or groups.

WHAT:
OFA will be giving visitors "materials and guidance... for a successful visit". So It's likely that these people just plan to show up, make a scripted statement and drop off some preprinted literature. They probably don't plan to stick around. They have no clue who Ron Paul is or what he's like. That's when Dr Paul should pounce! They'd never expect the rep to stop and have a civil conversation with them. I'd suggest he hand out chocolate chip cookies.

invisible is making sense here:

This just shows how easily people can be manipulated by a few code words. The original tells people to go visit their representative and tell them what they think about healthcare. But it got changed around to thugs going to get somebody and everybody got hysterical. And some of these people think they are too sophisticated to be misled by anything their government or representatives tell them. Switch the names Ron Paul and Barak Obama in the original post and see how your reaction would change despite none of the other info changing.

LOL, you can't identify a thread title pumped up to get more views when you see it? That happens on all sorts of forums, not just this one. Btw, the premise of your last sentence is off because RP isn't working to turn the US into the Soviet Union. Obama is. He deserves all the crap he catches.

how about co-opting them, and deflating their strategy totally? Ron could make an announcement that he is offering to host a meeting with those who support the healthcare / insurance reform crap - take all their questions, and give them the facts. Great opportunity to play up his qualifications as a doctor on the subject, and educate these folks who are just starting to wake up and realize that they got duped into thinking their vote would end the war. Offering a meeting with the opposition would defuse a lot of the venom. Rachel, is this something you could pass along?

I was the first one in the thread to call BS on it. It just amazes me how many people assumed it to be true. There are a lot of BS threads on this forum these days. Ones discussing facts on the issues are few and far between.
My point about changing Obama and Paul's names was that this would completely change the way people read the issue. If Dr. Paul was asking people to go visit their representatives and express their opinion on the issue, they would think it was a good idea- not some dangerous threat.

Bullshit, You called bs because you support Obama.
After the first Townhalls were shouted down by angry citizens, Union thugs showed up and started beating people up.
Acorn has been actively using extortion.
It is an old , tried and true , tactic .
It has been used by many, and is being used here.

This thread was just a warning to those concerned.

If I hear of anything happening, I will set up camp in the parking lot of his office in Lake Jackson, touch Ron Paul, and you will have a personal meeting with God!
