From Article:

Money bombs—when supporters arranged a date for a mass donation online—were a hit during the elder Paul's presidential run. Rand is open to recycling other ideas, too. "We love the idea of the blimp," he tells us. "They can bring the blimp back, by all means."

Hmmmm.....

I hate how they always call people they don't like or understand, "Long Shot" candidates. It's called bias and propaganda.

(Ron and Rand)

I would agree.... except that I think it might could work as a publicity stunt in KY on a very limited basis. Money could be spent better elsewhere (direct mail pieces, TV ads, etc) however we'd get a LOT of mileage out of a RP blimp in a small state like KY.

How could a blimp be the worst idea? Look how happy Rand is in that picture.

Just give him a blimp!

Great opening line:

"Calling Ron Paul's supporters enthusiastic is an understatement."

Jeremy Tyler

That was exactly my point. In a small state like this it could work and it would get alot of attention. But I agree that this would only be a good idea if we were raising millions like we did with paul. Otherwise the money could be spent much better.

yup. direct mail everyone in the state, and load up on statewide tv advertisment before you do anything else.

yup. direct mail everyone in the state, and load up on statewide tv advertisment before you do anything else.Exactly. But a blimp could work if it hit every major market in KY within 1 week from the election. ;)

matt collins... a Rand Paul blimp at the superbowl would be mighty expensive...
be CAUTIOUS about any blimp approach to the mass media. i'd prefer banners
and small cesna planes, myself... and rand paul balloons at events for FREE that
you can hand out to the very young in a manner like slimjims. do think of the ways!!!

Blimp... worst idea ever...

That's why it's still getting news references two years later. Yeah, it was a TERRIBLE idea.

yup. direct mail everyone in the state,

It would cost roughly 400,000 to mail ever Republican in the state ONCE. :o

It would cost roughly 400,000 to mail ever Republican in the state ONCE. :o

This is clearly due to a major conspiracy by USPS to raise prices of stamps so that Rand Paul could not send mail to every registered Republican in the state of Kentucky.

In all seriousness though, we could probably hit most of those doors with a flyer, even if we didn't get to talk to everyone.

It would cost roughly 400,000 to mail ever Republican in the state ONCE. :oThe trick is to only target those who are likely to vote in the primary. And then you can even subdivide it by geographic area too.
