Wow, Schiff is killing Robbie. Game over Mr. Simmons.

It's definitely a great site. But lest we get overconfident, here's something to bring us back to earth, the results of a poll of Republicans in CT a couple weeks ago:

7/23 5/27 4/2
Simmons 42% 52% 32%
Foley 5% 7% 4%
Schiff - - -
Caligiuri 5% 7% 4%
Someone Else
1% - 2%
Wouldn't Vote
1% 1% 2%
Don't Know / No Answer
45% 33% 56%

Edit: Sorry, I tried to get the tabs to line up right but couldn't. In case you can't figure out what it's supposed to show, Schiff had basically zero support as of a couple weeks ago. He not only needs all this money, but he needs to be able to translate it into votes, and support that's not nationwide, but right at home in CT.

Exactly; if Peter isn't planning to buy the election he has to substitute it with good classic canvassing and hard work.

Yep. And if he is planning to buy it, then $750k won't be nearly enough. He'd need to outspend Simmons by millions to overcome that gap. Of course volunteer boots on the ground and free publicity that comes out of things like this money bomb can also make up some of that ground.

The fact the simmons is under 50% and basicly tied with "don't know" is really good news for Peter. AFAIK Simmons has solid name recognition among CT Republicans and the fact that he is polling so poorly as the GOP favorite tells us something about him.

Somebody must have had to coach Simmons on how to look happy and smile for that picture. He is completely un-personable. The guy is your typical arrogant country club elitist CT republican. Schiff will make him look so bad in the debate I'll feel sorry for the washed up old man.

Where are the issues on Schiff's website?

Albeit, even without an issues section, Schiff's is pretty good. But this good version is only a few days old. As of Wednesday or so, it was still practically nothing. I'm not trying to give Simmons an out. But it's still pretty early, and I figure all the serious candidates will be seriously improving their websites in the months ahead. We're best off not underestimating what the establishment guy is going to be able to pull off when push comes to shove. This race will have to be one of constant effort by Schiff supporters until election day.

Schiff needs to declare he's running. According to this article from Nolan Chart, the key to winning a dark horse race is a good and early start.

Keep in mind that corporate money has not been infused yet and I doubt it's going to go to Schiff.

Schiff is going to need millions to be competitive in this race. We can do it, but it certainly isn't time to get over-confident and cocky.

Look at this Google Trends comparison between Schiff, Dodd, and Simmons. No news coverage for Schiff, but he is huge on the internet. Same shit as the Presidential Campaign

The key to a dark horse winning anything is early organization. If Schiff's supporters want him to win in Connecticut, they need to build that organization right now. They need to quickly establish precinct captains everywhere in the Constitution State. They need to begin lit dropping and sign posting before the end of 2009. They need to work the voters before the big candidates kick their campaigns into gear. In other words, they need to build some serious name recognition for Schiff now...not later.

-

this is absolutely correct, they need to organize the grassroots campaign in CT and meet Republicans now...
