Apparently in a new book coming out it is revealed that John McCain's first choice in the Presidential Election to be on his ticket was Joe Liberman. After realizing that this could result in chaos at the convention (by not nominating a Republican) they decided to look for others.

Oh and he also had only planned to run 1 term and hand the reigns over to Liberman.

Not at all surprised. Still, a great story to ram home to conservatives to illustrate just how badly the mainstream GOP faltered by putting faith in McCain.

I read an article yesterday:

and as I recall they specifically said Liberman was not the #1 pick

Until days before McCain's deadline, Lieberman appeared to be in the lead, although one top official later said it was never as clear-cut as that. "If you characterize this as yes or no on Lieberman and then someone else [became the top contender], that's not it at all," he said. "Was he the romantic pick? Yes."

Certainly none of the others had the kind of relationship with McCain that Lieberman did.

Yes, that was the quote. I'm not sure if you're trying to use that for or against me. I guess it depends on how you determine the quote.

Shocking! Leiberman was in the running? Next thing you're going to tell me is that Palin was brought in by Bill Kristol! Outrageous!

No difference in these "2 wings of the same Vulture". It's all a facade/charade/gimmick of these politicians creating some differences, but they are almost all 'Bought and Paid For' by the powerful, Wealth, Corporatists, etc.

McCain supported the bailout, the wars, the Patriot Act etc.
Lieberman supported the bailout, the wars, the Patriot Act etc.
Palin supported the bailout, the wars etc. (Unsure about her view on the Patriot Act).

Really no surprise here.

I was actually surprised when he didn't pick Lieberman.
