Old psy-ops tactic.
Creating counterfeit stamps of opposition leaders and organization was used in the world wars as propaganda tactics.
Same could be done today.

I think that's exactly the plan, Obama supporters did it to satirize Americans' anger to socialism.

Remember all those fake nooses and fake swastika vandalism cases? All to play victim and get media attention. Very rarely to republicans, conservatives, and patriots post anonymous posters (yes, I know Ron Paul supporters putting up banners is a rare exception, and this doesn't look like one of 'em)

"Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson is calling the depiction, politically mean spirited and dangerous."

O'rly? Mr. Hutchinson, maybe the American people think of Obama's assault on their pocketbooks and freedom as politically mean spirited and dangerous as well. Frankly, the vast majority of Americans would likely agree that the caption of this poster is BLATANTLY true based on the policies and legislation being pushed through Congress by the Obama administration. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then it must be a duck.

Message I got from someone on Facebook about this image:

So I suppose you don't think of this as a racist image. You need to seriously check yourself. While I am against the IRS, I DO NOT believe the President to be a "socialist" nor do I believe that the people calling him one are not doing it as very thinly vailed racism! Back when my grand parents where advocating for black folks to get the vote, the way to scare white folks about educated black folks was to call them "communist". Now it's "socialist"! Get a grip!!

Some people just don't get it...

Funny, I asked her just that but I didn't know there was a picture:

As a libertarian/anarchist I am as far away from a racist as you can get (in fact I think racists are some of the most vile people on the planet). I do not believe people should be put into groups and discriminated against based on color, sex, religion, orientation, etc. I believe everybody is an individual.

However, you claim that Obama is not a socialist is wrong according to the definition of socialism. Bush was also a socialist and I would love a picture like this of him as well. The definition of socialism is as follows which suits Obama (and people calling themselves the government for a long time) to a tee:

1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.

Her response:

First of all, that image you use is offensive! For someone who thinks that they are smart, you need to understand how that image might offend any black person!
Second, President Obama, when taking over GM in the name of the federal government was NOT acting as a socialist, he was trying to save at lest one of our main industries from ruin! Had he done nothing, you would have had something to say about that too! What would you have done? Let hundreds more people just loose their jobs?

The fact that you don't think you believe in something has not stopped you from using racist imagery to make your point, "Mr. I think racist are vile". You are just one more bigot hiding behind the obvious to pander to the ignorant. The proof is in the people you attract with you image!

And lastly my latest response:

How is the image racist in any way whatsoever? It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he is black. Like I said I would like to see somebody recreate this for Bush or any other politician.

While Obama had good intentions in bailing out/taking over failing car companies, what he lacked was a fundamental understanding of sound economics. The profit and loss system is extremely important for an economy. When a business fails because of poor decisions, changing demand, or other factors, this is positive. What you see in the short term is bad with a lot of people out of work but this is better in the long term (and we can all help these people out in their hard times without propping up failing businesses). Letting businesses fail helps reallocate resources (labor and capital) to their better uses which is a net positive for individuals.

What you do not see when a business is bailed out are all the people that are put out of work and the decreases in standards of living caused by improper allocation of resources. This is called the "broken window fallacy" in economics. By diverting resources to a failing business, you are hurting more people than you are helping. Imagine what would have happened if the people who had produced horse and buggies would have been bailed out as a failing industry. We would not have the benefits of advancement that automobiles have brought to our world. In the long term these people who produced horse and buggies were able to find different, more productive work.

Additionally there is the fact that this creates a problem called "moral hazard" in that businesses are able to take more risk because they realize that they will be bailed out when they make mistakes. This is very destructive for everyone in our economy.

Lastly, it is immoral to steal people's money at the point of a gun to fund this type of thing.

produce on rolls from 3" wide to 10" wide. Make some rolls come cut one per 4-up, sets of 2, 3 or 4, and a continuous roll of this image, like tape.

What would be really cool is if you could get 500 people in one city, all on the same day, say a Monday morning from 2AM until 5AM each to go and "spend" about 5000 of these images in various sizes formats, media, and rolls. Including Tabloid posters and letter posters.

The city goes to sleep Sunday night in peace. The city wakes up Monday morning to find itself plastered with 2.5 million (times FOUR images each mind you) Obama LIAR LIAR images. Anyway, an activist can dream. 8-)

ETA - it would also be nice to get 2" wide tape with just one row of images. On a sidewalk walking past a wooden fence, one could string a whole row of them 50 foot long, just by walking by. 8-)

She doesn't sound very bright. Obama is not Jesus and like anyone else he can be criticized.

I don't buy the "I'd do it to a white politician too" argument because of our history there is a difference between certain images. For example - Obama portrayed as a monkey and Bush portrayed as a monkey.

But I don't know the historical racial precedent for a black man as joker. So any logical person would conclude it had nothing to do with race.

I don't understand what it has to do with race other than painting a black man's face white, but this case it's only to portray the character who also used said paint regardless of his race.

I also don't understand how "Socialism" somehow is equivalent to derogatory names for blacks. Most the major socialists/communists throughout the world and history have been a different race other than black. The term is derogatory for any self-righteous bleeding heart who is economically illiterate.

Easy one.
Wallpaper sizing/paste... (aka Wheat Gluten) mix a few teaspoons w/ a quart of water. (cheap).
Simply "pre-paste" it yourself..... let it dry..... re-moisten when needed.... stick it to the wall.
Or just dip / brush it on the spot, let it "tack" for a minute, and wet brush it to the wall.
yer done. :)
PS... Need to use powder toner/laser prints (inkjet prints r water soluble)

I mean, we fucking own the car companies, bank companies, insurance company, and pretty soon the medical industry. In what world are these people living in?

Personally, I think the model more closely aligns with Moussilini's fascism model, where the "private" sector technically owns the means of production, but the government openly dictates the rules and determines what, and how much, and for whom items will be produced.

The function of the business owners is to make sure the machinery is oiled, both literally and metaphorically.

It's just bone stupid to think that because a politician doesn't run on a Socialist or Fascist party ticket that therefore they aren't properly labeled as such.

Yep. If you're driving around with a partner, one preps a poster while the other drives to the next site.

[I think it's so funny when people think that pointing out that Barack Obama is a socialist is somehow racist.

What world? The world where yelling racist has always worked to silence critics.

Also just wanted to say that I found out about this from another source and these posters could potentially really blow up soon. A certain, incredibly large, anonymous group of people have latched onto this and may start spreading it like wildfire.

I find the stirring of controversy to be a great thing.

Thomas Lifson wrote on the conservative American Thinker website: "It is starting. Open mockery of Barack Obama, as disillusionment sets in with the man, his policies, and the phony image of a race-healing, brilliant, scholarly, middle-of-the-roader."

Edited to add that, although it doesn't exactly shock me, it is so scary to learn that this is on the White House website. Straight from the white house official website:

"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

Translation: "if you see someone who disagrees with us, imform us of it

I still don't get it guys. I mean, no one I've ever met would ever associate the Joker with socialism.

And its not like this gets any message across that can educate someone or convert their thinking. Call me ignorant, but I feel that promoting your view is way more productive than trying to degrade others'.

Here's something for ya! You are right, there is no real similarity but the picture does work in the sense that Obama is a clown that has evil intentions.

Yeah, I agree. The poster doesn't make any sense. What does the joker have to do with socialism?

This is some kind of half assed underground media campaign. If you're going to take jabs at Obama, make sure it makes sense first.

Obama is The Joker because he is a degenerate criminal who has played a huge JOKE on us.

Forget about educating the sheep....it's simple propaganda like this poster that will have greater impact than any well thought out argument

I think if the original poster had read "Why so socialist?" it would have been more immediately clear what the connection was. As another poster put it: "Both are diabolical villains bent on total control of the population who recognize no moral limitations and who burst onto the scene in 2008 attaining cult-like followings for superficial reasons."

Well theres certainly nothing wrong with these posters, but I still feel that educating and informing the public will do much more do persuade them than an a picture of Obama looking like a comic-book villian.

An END THE FED poster with facts about how it came to power and what its been up to recently would change more minds than this picture. I doubt anyone will see Obama wearing facepaint with the word Socialism under him and think "Oh god, Now I realize what he's REALLY been up to!"

It just seems silly and a waste of effort just to show that you don't like Obama. That doesn't progress our movement. Its sad to me that threads like this accrue 14 pages of responses when threads like this one http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=204198 receive only 2.

Me thinks that all of you great-minded patriots can spend your efforts elsewhere with more impact.
