Jahogs & all you "thermometer addicts",

Since, imho, this overwhelming response to Dr. Paul's call for online donations is so amazing and perhaps even historic, I've started an automatic recording of the numbers. It's been going since noon Eastern.

If someone has a server they'd be willing to put it on, I could show a live graph (vs. time) of dollars, donors, dollars per hour, etc, in addition to the current total. This would be nice for showing if we were on pace for making $750k/$1M/$?. It could also ease the burden on the campaign's server. Maybe some bloggers and news organizations would be interested in a copy of the final graph, too.

Techies: A Microsoft-based server with Asp.net would be preferred, since that's the platform I program in, but I could make it work with Linux/php if I had to.

Also, if anybody besides Jahogs has some good early data to make it complete, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I've done some work that's slightly related but not totally... maybe you'll find it useful. Especially now that we seem to know that the average donation these last few days was around $95: (doesn't necessarily mean it was like that all quarter though, meetup competition for example might skew it)

You seem to be using the confirmation numbers to do this. That is not taking in account the mail in donations. That means we are actually getting more than the graph shows.

Correct, but it's not unfair to assume that there's some level of correlation between the two. I would imagine it's not a perfect correlation though.

Wow, am I reading this graph wrong, or is this saying that we should expect our third quarter fundraising to increase SIX TIMES from the second quarter, assuming the average donation amount is the same???

My question - Did the donation #'s (TXXXXX) start when the website first came up or later on?

(i.e. if they initiated that # scheme say halfway through the 2nd qtr, then we'd expect 3x not 6x this qtr because we arnt accounting for some online donations.)

Anyone have a really low TXXXXX #? Like T2? What was the donation date?

Even if Ron Paul only averages 5,000 an hour over 12 hours for the remaining days, that is still an additional $240,000 to the total.

Lets hope for 7,000 an hour or more.

Not quite, the graph starts on June 6th with online donation #881, however the confirmation number system started in June, not in April.

The pace of donations is about double of what is was in Q2. You should be focusing on the slope of the curve, that's what indicates strength. If we were to plot Sept. 24th - 26th in that graph, it would be VERY steep, more than twice as steep as Sept. 18th-21st.

I think our pace puts us at about 2.5x above Q2, if we have a strong weekend.

Well, here are a few added data points. The last section of the graph is the very beginning of the final week push. That's a nice steep incline. :)

It's interesting to note that the 2nd half of this graph looks very much like a exponential function, whereas the previous boosts in fundraising from previous quarters appears to have been less stable. This demonstrates growing solidarity, in my opinion.

I'll take this a step further and try to glean some information as it relates to actual dollars. Check back in 20.

This website (http://www.ronpaul2008.com/webservices/REST/donation-total?format=nvp) displays the amount donated during this end of Quarter drive and the number of donations tallied. (e.g. count=4295 & sum=396009.75)

From the data in there, you can establish a donation average of ~$93. We CANNOT know if this donation average holds true for the entire quarter or not; my personal opinion is that it's a tad low compared to the rest of the quarter because of the meetup competition, but assuming it's correct, that gives us...

Just to be clear, that graph is made from online donations only, right? If so, looks like RP is going for a cool 3mil from online donations alone. :)

I'm split 50/50 on the end of Q3...I want to see what was raised, and yet, I want more time so it keeps going up. :D

Correct, online donations only. Also if you assume that some rather large transactions were done in bulk as part of the meetup competition, which in my mind is entirely possible, then the average donation amount might be off and the totals may be higher.

Hey we still got 4+ days left, still time to raise another 500k. I'm off to the myspace project. :)
