After Matt Collins raised concerns that Rand would get the shaft in terms of media mentions, I decided to track all of the news stories on the US Senate race in Kentucky and create data tables from those stories. I made a quick Google Spreadsheet. It has a few basic elements:
Article / Video URL
Date of Article / Video
Is Rand Mentioned?
It then calculates the total number of articles and the percentage of articles that Rand is mentioned in. Matt and I have Google Alerts set up so we will be immediately notified of a news story or blog post about the race. We both have the capability to update the spreadsheet and will be doing so very frequently. I encourage everyone to comment on the news stories, especially those that do not mention Rand.
