How can these people even vote on bills they know nothing about?

I would accept the case of somebody reading far enough into a bill to realize that it is trash to be voted down and then stop reading further.

That alone would be a red flag to any intelligent and sincere person, but Conyers is unfortunately neither. If I were told something to the effect of, "This bill is 1000 pages long, but you'll need two lawyers to interpret it for you, and it's just not worth the effort...so don't even try. Just vote yes. What's the worst that can happen?" I'd immediately vote it down on principle. That's not my libertarian side speaking, that's just my "human being with common sense" side speaking. If a bill is so drawn-out and complicated that it requires two lawyers' help for an "educated" Congressman just to understand it, how the hell can anyone justify making it a law which the executive branch must execute and everyone else must abide by? You'd have to be either corrupt to the core or flat-out INSANE to vote for such a bill.

Listening to C-SPAN, I would say less than 20% of them are even what I would call educated. I realize most of them are lawyers, I can only assume that the bar exam can be cheated on or people were paid off to make sure they passed.
Maxine Waters always comes to mind (when talking about stupid Congress critters). I am amazed that woman's brain has the abililty to keep her breathing and maintain her pulse at the same time.

If I didn't understand it, I sure as HELL would never vote for it... and anyone stupid enough to vote for ANY bill without reading it needs to be voted out of office.

Or you know, they could abstain if they don't read it. That doesn't seem too demanding. If you don't know what you're talking about, let people who do make the call.

It should be crystal clear by now that we do not a congress or a senate. They are nothing but bought and paid for whores. Its time to get rid of them and we could balance the budget just bynot paying their enormous salaries, perks and daily care.
