Guys, I know that the counter is awesome to watch seeing all of the donations stream in so quickly and in such amount. The problem is all of this constant bombardment of the server is downing the poor site and the application running it. So for an hour or two please do not visit the RonPaul2008 site.

I've submitted a suggestion to move the updating thermometer to the donations page and just a graphical link to it from the main page. The problem is right now the server is dying due to the massive bandwidth consumption and processor usage of having a rapidly updating application on the front page.

The problem is that we are consuming the bandwidth that could be better apportioned to people who are UNAWARE of Dr. Paul's message. Let them have the benefit for a little bit of being able to see the site and hear Dr. Paul's message. Which will undoubtedly result in even more donations, so it's a win for us and Dr. Paul.

Someone was saying the flash app doesn't take up much bandwidth....as long as you don't hit the refresh button

I'm letting up on it because I just had the good fortune to see my name pop up on the "recent donations" area! Totally random as I had just donated and then returned to the homepage.

So if you're going to eat up their bandwidth, you better be donating!

The volume of users connecting to the site has an effect similar to a DoS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack) attack. Just like when RP is in a debate and this site goes down because of the number of users trying to connect.

Well, looking around on a few other sites. The application is being accessed from other places aside from RonPaul2008 site. This is contributing more to the problem :(
