I am sure everyone here is aware that when they say it would be a catastrophe to get into the FED's business, it is true.. and out of the mouth of bernanke it is a threat that echoes Nicholas Biddle.

if we move forward against the Federal Reserve Cartel, things could get so very bad before they are ousted..

to think any of our douchebag public officials have the steadfastness of Jackson.. ugh.

Before the Iraq War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_War) began, Alexander supported sending troops to Iraq and expressed his agreement with President Bush that Iraq must be dealt with immediately.A year after the war began, Alexander stated that the Iraq War had provided "lessons" to the nation, but went on to say that American troops should not be withdrawn, saying "It would be even worse if we left before the job was done. In 2007, Alexander touted implementing the Iraq Study Group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Study_Group) recommendations, noting that he believes Bush will be viewed as a Truman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Truman)-esque figure if he implements the Group's recommendations. Alexander has, however, opposed most efforts in the Senate to bring an end to the Iraq War or reduce the number of troops in Iraq, voting, for example, against an amendment to a bill that would have required that soldiers be given minimum periods of rest before being redeployed to Iraq.

Note a true republican intergerring in free markets: Tennessee Republican Senator] Bob Corker was a happy man." ... ""I cannot think of a more exciting day, even more so than Election Night, for me," the Republican senator from Tennessee said in a conference call that day (http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/jul/16/et-hoping-to-cash-in-on-chattanoogas-vw-plant/). The reason for his elation was the announcement that [German automaker] Volkswagen, lured by $500 million worth of incentives from the state government (corporate Welfare_, had agreed to build a $1 billion plant near Chattanooga, Tenn.

What Alexander and Corker really mean is that they don't want to politicize monetary policy. Opening up the Fed to debate, in their minds, would allow Congress to politicize monetary policy. One of the stated reasons the Federal Reserve was created was so that monetary policy would be in an independent 3rd party away from the momentary and fickle whims of Congress. Perhaps a good idea, except that it's unconstitutional because the Constitution does not grant Congress the authority to delegate that power to an external entity, especially one that is non-governmental.

This whole Corker Properties Ltd )Chattanooga), the timing of all the property sales, the VW plant being built in Chattanooga, the $500 Million in corporate Welfare to VW, and Corker being the mayor of Chattanooga... there's something very corrupt about all of this.

Someone should investigate the SlimeBall.

Letter I got a few days ago from my Senator

Dear Mrs. XX;

Thank you for contacting my office regarding S. 604, the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

Like you, I understand the importance of having strong federal monetary policy with appropriate oversight measures, particularly during these difficult economic times. S. 604 would require the Comptroller General of the Government Accounting Office (GAO) to audit portions of the Federal Reserve that are currently exempt from audit. Due to the Federal Reserve's active role in trying to diffuse systemic economic risks, I believe access to certain Federal Reserve records is important to ensure appropriate oversight. As a member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, I look forward to working with my colleagues to provide better transparency of federal expenditures.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me as I serve you in the United States Senate.

Sincerely,

Bob Corker
United States Senator

And inherently flawed, since Bernanke is clearly a political figure already, making deals with the White House and Foreign Banks.

This complaint by Corker is just a marketing ploy, crafted to tug at heart strings and paint the audit as some disruption by a string-pulling agency and disseminated to party-men and talking heads.

Listen around, you'll hear the same crap from 1000s of these tools.

Very sneaky wording used in this letter.

Can anyone tell me why republicans from the home state of Andrew Jackson are opposed to this legislation?

I don't believe in any of the conspiracy theories about the Fed, but I do believe the bank should be transparent. There's absolutely no reason for the Fed to maintain secrecy. Its unreasonable and provide huge opportunities for traders to exploit insider information to make money from macro-scale economic moves. There simply aren't any reasonable arguments for secrecy.

The kind of look that the vampires gave to "familiars" in the movie Blade. They get no respect from either side.
