Ok, My girlfriend mentioned this to me after my 1,000,000 th rant about how the government never stops trying to take control of individual lives. She said this to me and it has stuck ever since. "To bad you aren't a liberal. If you were, you would think the world is getting better and better by every breath of Obama." Not a direct quote, but you get the gist. People say ignorance is bliss, but what if you were one of those sick people who have polar opposite views the rp movement? With each liberty striking law and judgement, you would have another reason to get drunk and celebrate. Oh how good it would be to have that feeling. What do you guys think?

yeah, that's probably true. "Conservatives" found Bush's infringements on liberty reason to celebrate, so I would expect a similar reaction from another clique of Statists.

Does your gf have any knowledge of American history with regard to what we fought against (a tryannical regime) and how it is now returning to us by way of our own gov't? History is repeating itself right now with respect to our original revolution. And it all started in 1913 with the advent of the Federal Reserve Act, and the 16th and 17th amendments; the first WW, then the manufactured 'Great Depression' and the subsequent second WW. Things have been systematically sliding toward a fascist regime ever since.

Obama's plans are to spend our way out of a situation that we spent our way into. Not to mention taking our free markets away from us. Is she completely clueless??

I don't know about that. I was a neocon under Bush, and I wasn't happy. I kept worrying about the possibility of the conservatives losing power, liberals gaining ground, etc. When you want to solve everything through power and control, you're constantly worried. It's a big anxiety, believing that if you and your crowd aren't running the world, everything will fall apart. Realizing that other people can better live their own lives is a big weight lifted off of your shoulders.

What, do liberal secretly have schadenfreude?

I guess they just don't realize all the misery these policies will eventually lead to.

They aren't "happy" per se. It's not moving fast enough for them (lol), Obama's too conservative (lol), republicans are obstructing the socialist agenda (LMAO) etc.

freedom is a mental condition: http://voluntaryist.com/articles/070.php

the problem with libertarian political action is much of the time you are in a negative mindset crying about the system. When you live as a free man, it is much easier to keep a positive mindset; thus the philosophy of liberty is more appealing.

Same here I just know I would feel completely different if our country was completely turned over to a a consitutionally limited government. I am certainly not suggesting it would be better to be blind as you drive off a cliff. It just is interesting to think that given the state of our country, some people are actually satisfied with the depleting condition.
