Quinnipiac University (based in CT) did some polling for the Senate race in CT. Here are the relevant results.

Dodd vs. GOP in General Election

Dodd v Simmons 39-48
Dodd v Foley 42-42
Dodd v Caligiuri 42-40
Dodd v Schiff 43-38

GOP Primary Numbers

If Primary Held Today
Simmons 45
Foley 5
Caligiuri 5
Schiff -
Dont Know 45

Favorability Ratings (fav, un-fav, don't know enough)
Dodd 40-50-7
Simmons 39-12-48
Foley 17-5-77
Caligiuri 12-4-84
Schiff- 7-3-89

My analysis. Chris Dodd is trouble, no matter who he faces. Simmons has a big lead due to much higher name recognition than the rest of the field. Peter Schiff has very low name recognition, which means he will need a lot of money just to blast his name out there. Foley's numbers will also increase once he starts blasting his name.

So it will be a matter of making sure everyone in Connecticut knows who Peter Schiff is. Let's help him do it: http://www.schiffbomb.com

i once took a poly-sci class at the college level in the 1970s.
gist of polling. peter schiff does not really have a name recognition
factor with the people polled. dodd polls one more percentage
point above schiff than he does when pitted against caligiuri or foley.
dodd polls less well against simmons. dodd is a known factor. all
the other candidates have less of a name recognition, and were the
"fence-sitters" to divide 50/50 --- dodd could be in trouble a.s.a.p

this all tacitly has nearly all the other candidates tapping an anti-dodd
core support as they possibly could now cakewalk into the senate with few
obstacles. for senator dodd to be re-elected, he really needs to regain the
confidence of the voters. the very good thing that could work in peter schiff's
favor as he rockets to the head of the pack is that few voters percieve him
in a negative way. this is early in the race. each decision he makes... changes all!

As soon as he announces his run, we need to get as many people on the ground in CT giving out literature and exposing people to Schiff. He can win this, but people need to know he exists!!

Yeah you NH people, when its time, I expect you on the ground in CT!
Its only a 2 hour ride. You could even pay for your entire trip by purchasing liquor, cigarettes, or fireworks legally in NH, then selling them down here in CT at a profit. Just don't get caught. ;-)

This is precisely why, IMHO, he needs his $20 Million for the Primary. The Republicans are going to fight much harder, if they're Democrat opponent is likely to go down.

I doubt the establishment would back Simmons to the tune of $20 million. Especially once we showcase our volunteer energy and flex our fundraising ability.
