So I decide to watch a little news this morning. And not even 30 seconds into me watching CNN the propaganda starts spewing.

Apparently this is the question MOST Americans have about the health care plan.............................."Whats in it for me?"

I had to turn it off.

Actually, that sounds about like the American political mindset, unfortunately. I've talked to a ton of people who oppose big government programs on this or that, but if it's something they're getting benefit from, they turn a blind eye...

I don't know that that is 'propoganda' so much as the sad reality of the state of the nation.

Maybe I have a negative view of the majority of americans, but...I can see the majority having a 'gimme gimme gimme' mentality that would translate into a 'what's in it for ME' attitude towards BO's healthcare plan.

Easy answer is to go to your local DPS (DMV) to get a taste of what's in it for you. :)

Long waits, very old technology, pissed off workers, and bunches more!

Something tells me CNN didn't talk about it this way tho. :(

I think more people are worried what will happen to them, not what they will get from it.

The propaganda comes from shaping the debate. There is no debate, they have set in stone that national health care will happen and the only questions left are what you will get.

I think the propaganda machine wants to keep Americans 'worked up" over health care to keep them diverted from the money issue among other things that tptb wants to use to keep the public blind deaf and dumb.

Media does what the money tells them to do. If the money wants the public worked up over health care they will be.

If they had had that attitude towards the bailouts, it would have been a good thing...since it was obvious they were going to get nothing, there should have been public outrage that maybe would have prevented the bailouts or voted out the corrupt incumbents.

"I have a $500/month COBRA payment that I can't afford because I lost my job, I can't believe anyone would stand in the way of Obama giving me free care."

That's it. That's as deep as the thought process goes.

I'm glad I stopped being emotionally invested in all of this collectivist crap.

Well the dirty secret is no one is going to get anything. That is the funny thing, really I SHOULD benefit from such a bill, but I know what it really means. I will be paying for health care that is inadequate, overpriced, too scarce, and distributed based on the political structure.

Nothing is more inhumane than what is being proposed by the left today...nothing dehumanizes man so much. The "strings" attached alone should scare you , if not the obvious fact that there is no way to fund this monster. Socialism eats away at the wealth of the country, and reduces it more and more. It's immoral and robs people in the process.

There is nothing good about what is being talked about...it's full blown Tyranny. Supposedly free men and women in this country are fearful for their very well being because of what our government is trying to do through unconstituional means....is this not Tyranny? Should we live in fear of what government would FORCE us to do?

There is nothing good about this plan, it's an absolute abomination.

The Law needs to be required reading in Junior High and High School.

The Law needs to be required reading in Junior High and High School.

Why would a State institution ever try to teach children to think as independent individuals and act according to their own morality instead of by D.C. dictate?

How about we stop forcing associations onto people, from the public schools to general taxation, and let those people who want to trade liberty for security do so, while we are free to keep both?

I wouldn't force anyone to read any book to be a qualified adult, but I'd sure like to know that the people making administrative decisions with my money were well educated. So rather than force voters to be well-read, how about we abolish voting? You don't need to vote for the CEO of your shoe company - you vote with your purchase. If you don't like management or if you don't like the shoe products offered, you can go elsewhere.

Health Care is no different, and we need to abolish state licensing, state legal immunities, FDA regulation, Prescription writing, and a number of other state inventions that, while possibly a valuable service, are run too poorly to be justified and are too restrictive to competition. And I'm not claiming that there should be no licensing for hospitals or doctors - just that the AMA and other industry and consumer associations are the more reliable, efficient, and natural options, and will both better meet the specific and varied needs of patients and induce doctors to be better physicians with less costs, making care cheaper in terms of real wealth and giving more incentives to enter medicine.

If anyone really cared about making sure everyone recieved medical care who needed it (but "couldn't pay for it" - and whose standard is used in determining this?), they are free to spend all of their time and money fighting for that, but they don't have the right to appropriate my money for what I consider a noble but ineffective and destructive course of action.

Anyone who is truly selfish would do the research, use his brains, and find out how much universal healthcare will hurt them.

the question I have about health care is why does everyone think the government owes it to us...

While simultaneously reminding us that "we are government."

So from stimulus to market bailouts to health-care to welfare, its all just a case of a bunch of divas prancing around in fancy clothes subconsciously repeating the mantra that "we owe it to ourselves."

Another one of my unfavorite responses is that because I "would benefit" from it at the expense of others (the evil rich), I'm somehow crazy not to support it.

If you ever hear that argument in person ask them if they would support a 3rd party mugging Bill Gates as he walked through a small town - after all they would benefit from the 3rd party spending the money in the local economy...
