The announcements of Barack Obama's birth printed by two Hawaii newspapers in 1961 do not provide solid proof of a birth in the Aloha State because of uncertainties over the policies and procedures that apparently were being used at the time.

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin, for example, according to its website, now reprints birth information it receives from Hawaii's Department of Health.

They may not be sufficient proof of where he was born. But what is the birther response to them? Obama was born in Kenya but somebody decided to put an announcement in Hawaiian newspapers anyway just in case he wanted to run for president some day?

Maybe those annoucements weren't so much about him running for President as much as they were about to help make sure he gets US citizenship. It is pretty farfetched to believe that someone in his family thought "Hmm, better do this now just in case he wants to run for President someday". I put more stock in the idea that whoever did it was more concerend with him getting US citizenship.

Here Lynnf, Jon Stewart will explain how it would have to work:

Also WND, the very source you quoted, said the certificate was real.

once again, here is the story as it has been told, which may or may not be true:

Obama's mom and dad went to visit relatives in Kenya while she was pregnant. she later got fed up with being treated by the dad like other Muslim women were treated by their husbands. she tried to leave, but was refused a flight because of her advanced pregnancy. Obama was then born and she hopped the first flight that she could to Hawaii, where they register foreign births (or possibly she lied about where the birth took place). the paper listing is merely a listing of what the state registered -- and according to the WorldNetDaily article from the original post of this thread, that is just what has been practiced, the paper just listing what the state listed.
