I don't think she really stood up for him, but recognized that he is a sophisticated person who could take the joke (unlike perhaps many of the innocent people Cohen took advantage of like the ministers, or the hunters) to make money.

im glad barbara walters points out that this IS NOT a movie for kids. my teenage daughter begged me to take her to see this movie. luckily being online i looked up reviews, what movie was about BEFORE heading to the theater. needless to say we/I WILL NOT pay to see this on the big screen and i REFUSED to let my daughter see it!

I like whoopi's comment at the end "i really dont want to see a big dick on the screen" maybe at home in the bedroom; but NOT on the screen":)

i hope this is NOT what Ron Paul is remembered for by the general public; but bad publicity is still better than NO publicity and if it gets people to research the good doctor to find out more about him and what he stands for; then i guess that would be a something good coming out of something perverse.

Yeah, I am angry that they only gave this movie an R rating. And there seems to be plenty of children seeing it judging by the youtube reviews. Felt sorry for this kid that went and saw it with his friend and his father.

Did anyone else take note of that cow Joy squirming in her chair when Barbara was talking about anal sex and penis close-ups?

I can't believe anyone would want to see that movie... paid or for free.

Two things I did learn from that video:

1) That dude needs a haircut.
2) Midget is a naughty word (though I did read something a few weeks back about midgets against the word midget... for whatever reason).

Lol, R rating means jack shit, not every theater participates in the ratings system.

The movie has been a flop. If anything Bruno may be remembered as "that crappy movie that tried to embarrass Ron Paul and paid the price at the box office" rather than Ron Paul being remembered for the movie.

Yes, I'm sure everyone will remember the movie for Ron Paul.

Never mind the fact that every other bit of the movie also sucked. Nope, it was the Ron Paul skit that outraged everyone.

Speaking of the movie ratings system and what is or isn't age appropriate, I remember ordering a documentary about it from Netflix a couple years ago. It went in depth into the actual ratings system. You'd be surprised to know that it's a group of about 20 people that is appointed to this board. It didn't mention it specifically but...

I BET THE BOARD CHANGES AS THE PRESIDENTS CHANGE!

I don't think it's any coincidence that an over-the-top "gay" movie, complete with close ups of penises (which you can't even get on PPV porn!), simulated oral sex with money shot even, etc is now considered "family friendly" cinema. Would that movie have gotten into the theaters with an R rating during GWB's administration? NO! Now Im not defending one choice over the other but it's something that I've observed lately and it all seems to follow the agenda.

I heard that that movie sucked from my friends. I wasn't going to see it in the first place, but at least all of you know what the word on the street is.

You know what they say about art reflecting a society's values. :(

Am I the only one who wishes I was born in a different time period/country?

The rating system is BS and who cares what these kids watch, it's their parent's decision. I saw Sin City with my mom because they wouldn't let me in alone even though she said I could watch it, and she thought it was a comic book hahahaha, well it was kinda :) But first scene was boooobs, and I was like :O ohhhh shizz. But she liked the movie overall and I did too haha.

/random story

edit: btw I saw Borat at school with a crazy teacher (she only worked there for a year haha) cause someone brought it in on dvd. that was a pretty awkward moment, and I did not want to relive that experience with even more people in a theater or even alone at home! :O

It has nothing to do with presidents. What is the fear of penises? Of nudity? I would think people here would be more concerned over the SAW films then penises. "OMG A PENIS! I'M SCARRED FOR LIFE!" As if half of the population doesn't already have one.

It seems like, violence = good in america, nudity = bad, and other places of the world (I think Japan) it's the opposite.

You really should see the documentary (2006) before you make blanket statements about what is or is not accurate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Film_Is_Not_Yet_Rated

Notice that the ratings board tried to give the documentary itself an NC-17 rating for sexual content and specifically says that the ratings board is tougher on homosexual content. Well that sure appears to have changed over the last few years. What else has changed? Openly pro-gay President is now in office. So giant weiners are a-ok. My point wasn't to question whether showing a weiner on screen is "good" or "bad", but rather it appears to demonstrate that the ratings board acts in a manner consistent with the policies of the administration, instead of sticking with set guidelines. The only way to reliably accomplish that is to reappoint the board when the Pres changes.

FWIW, Im a big fan of the Saw series. The violence in that movie is fake. The giant cock in my face in Bruno isn't.

Bruno was great and the only people who don't like it are overly sheltered losers. I knew that people who watched Borat wouldn't like this because it attacked their stupid religion and it showed how pathetic people really are. Just because Bruno offended you doesn't mean that it was a bad movie.

Wow. Looks like the CFR has officially promoted Ron Paul from "crazy" status to "Sophisticated".

Does he get FRN's for that?
