I've called already, but I wanted to also write a letter to my senators about co-sponsoring S604. I've written something decent, but I'm sure folks on here have something that sounds way better than anything I can come up with.

Thanks, everyone!

Please support passage of H.R. 1207 in the House and S. 604 in the Senate to Audit the Federal Reserve.

Due to the present-day trillion dollar bailouts, stimulus bills, and resulting federal deficits, we are entering an era when the Federal Reserve's inflation tax will be much more of a burden on most Americans than Congress' income tax.

The creation of money out of thin air by the Federal Reserve to paper over the multi-trillion dollar federal deficits and to prop up its fiat paper money system threatens to destroy the dollar and wipe out the value of our earnings from our jobs, our retirement income, our investments, and our insurance.

Congress created the inflation engine known as the Federal Reserve in 1913. Now Congress must ensure a thorough audit of its creature, the Federal Reserve, by passing H.R. 1207 and S. 604.

We the People deserve to know the truth about the Federal Reserve so that freedom-minded citizens and legislators can gain sufficient support in Congress to restore sound money and phase out the Federal Reserve.

Specter didn't listen to us on the bailouts, what makes you think he'll do any better on this issue? I personally think he's a lost cause, out to prove he's really a democrat. Since I hate to sound discouraging, at least Platts seems to be listening to us! I stop by his office once in a while, and his aides are always receptive. I haven't been banging my head against a wall with Specter, but have been encouraging Platts to pay more attention to the Constitution and true conservative positions.

I really didn't like Platts overall during the majority of the Bush years, but at least he can agree with us on the Fed audit & bailouts. His office in York used to be a few houses down from mine, but has since moved a few blocks. I know I won't get anywhere with Specter or Casey, but that doesn't mean I won't try. I at least want a letter from them saying why they don't support an audit of the Fed so I can use that as ammo against them for family & friends that would re-elect them in future elections.

bump for a sample D senator letter on S604.

the party line in standard responses i've seen has to do with a fear of tinkering with FRB's "indepence."

I agree totally. It seems that he voted for every fascist piece of "homeland security" crap possible. I think he's slowly coming around, though. He didn't support HR 2655 (abolishing the federal reserve). I did get a letter back from him stating such, but he never did explain his reason why. I've had good success explaining to his aides that following the Constitution is the most conservative position possible - this tactic seems to work quite well - don't just say that x is the truely conservative position, explain why. Hopefully we can continue to point him more in the right (no pun intended) direction on "homeland security" and foreign policy, now that he has a democrat in the White House to oppose.

Excellent idea! I personally don't know anyone who would vote for Specter, though.

I know all too well what you mean. Most of my relatives are hardcore socialist democrats, too.
