I think you'll find most 'liberals' believe that they are following the Constitution by instituting larger and more intrusive government, for the "public welfare" and to "represent the will of the people".

What you'll end up arguing is how the Constitution is meant to be used as a founding document: as a strict, original intent, construction of limited powers; rather than as a back-bone, where the literal meaning is subsumed by whatever the current government thinks the ideal means "in a changed world."

Ultimately, you should try the Library of Congress or us.gov:founding docs. After all, the government itself usually produces the highest quality propaganda films glorifying its power source!
