Maybe if we all stop paying taxes? If millions stop, what can they do?

I don't think we can do that without first establishing firmer control over civil rights and the vote... If we did that then we might be able to get away with that, and also repudiating the debt to the Federal Reserve.

I believe it will take a violent revolution to restore this country to its original ideals.

Somehow, we need to eliminate this deeply ingrained notion that politics is something foreign to roll your eyes at, and get people to reclaim it as their own. If the government really is of, by and for the people, they'll take up their roles in keeping it in check. Give them a sense of ownership in it, and they'll be more interested in keeping these D.C. vandals away from it.

I think the biggest damage the framers of the current perceptions (in the media and elsewhere) have done is to deliver the message and drive it home that the federal government is too big for you to touch. It's yours, but you can't touch it, they say. Huh?

And armored limousines, Air Force One, senatorial power suits and all the rest are merely there to reinforce this. But we are not, in fact, a monarchy, and they are not, in fact, untouchable.

This is an interesting DiLorenzo article:

http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2009/07/12/the-men-who-destroyed-the-constitution/

Don't agree with every word, but a good read nonetheless. Near the end, he suggests states secede and see if the 'benefits' of union membership in any way outweigh the benefits of their newfound freedom. Kind of an interesting 'kill it to save it' suggestion, eh?

I remember saying something vaguely similar a while back--if it comes down to secession, the success of the secessionists will attract more. Then, in order to come to a working agreement, those states could then adopt a strange document that has gone largely untried in recent decades--the U.S. Constitution.

OK - at this point there are 7 votes for Constitutional government vs 4 votes each for "restore the vote" and "restore civil rights".

Is there any way to restore Constitutional government without restoring the vote and civil rights?
