So YT is a total pain in the ass and doesn't allow new director's accounts for posting movies over 10:30. To get one of these accounts now is nearly impossible (I've tried). And Google Video doesn't allow uploads anymore either :(

People that had accounts prior to April 2006 may have the old style account that is grandfathered in to post longer length movies.

We want to acquire one of these accounts to post our full-length documentary (http://forlibertymovie.com) when it's done in a couple months. It would be ideal if someone has an account they don't use and would be willing to gift it to us to post the film. If we can't find an account to use I'm not sure what we're gonna do.

It would be better to get to do the partnership, although I don't personally know how that works. But a lot of people have done it including Schiff's channel, RP4409, etc.

I use mine so all I could do is upload it :x.

You should use Vimeo instead though, much better quality, though not as popular.

In order to get a partnership with YT you have to have tons of videos uploaded and lots of traffic already. Someone running for a political office may get one by default.

YouTube has a Movies (www.youtube.com/movies) section and there are some really amateur movies up there.

I think I have one. How do you know for sure that your account is Director's account? I have several old ones I do not use anymore, and one is Director, but I need to know how to check.

Did you try this?

1) Go to: http://www.youtube.com/my_profile
2) Scroll down and click on change channel type
3) In the drop-down box that appears, change from YouTuber to Director
4) Click on Update Channel

I posted a 2 hour test movie for you. It's just a black frame with burned in timecode that counts up to 2 hours.

Download it here, then upload the .mov file to your account and see if YT accepts it.

Why not just split your movie up into parts. You can also host it somewhere and link to full length original in the youtube description.

Youtube has the most eyeballs. If it went viral then it could possibly get on the most viewed page and get more views.

Would rather keep it in one piece at all times.

I would post what you can, and give people the option to request the full version via email. JMHO.

I'm sure we can find someone with a directors account. Just keep bumping this.
