Money drives the news... Here (http://kykurmudgeon.bloginky.com/2009/07/12/conway-laps-field-and-other-musings/) Rand is referred to as a Tier 2 candidate. Good read about the big upcoming event Fancy Farm.

There were 18.353 pledges for the November 5th money bomb, which brought in 4.3 million dollars. If we use this ratio on Rand's money bomb, we can assume that each pledge is worth about $234. If so, we are about 10% of the way there. We need to double our efforts!

404 pledges = $94,536

TruthisTreason,

Assuming Rand chooses to announce his candidacy, do you think the announcement will be before or after Grayson's announcement? Is there is any sort of strategic thinking going into the time frame of when Rand announces, of course, assuming he does. ;)

Trevor sent out an email a few days ago. I'm sure Rand will do his best to convince his father to send out an email. The first email from Ron brought in somewhere around 15-20k. We can probably expect a big jump in that number after a second email, because Rand will have likely announced and the fact that it will be a moneybomb day.

There is no guarantee Ron will send a second email though.

Lots of posturing going on... Bunning is stubborn doesn't want to get out, Grayson is cautious doesn't want to get in... :D

As Danny Briscoe, the Louisville political consultant, observed in the best quote of the campaign in a Lexington Herald-Leader story by Jack Brammer: "You have to go back to the days of Ferdinand Magellan and Balboa to see so much exploring."

I dont sign any more pledges due to the misuse of email lists collected in money bombs by Trevor Liemen.

Dr. Ron Paul has his campaign kickoff August 15. Might be a good time to remind him about sending out a mass email for his son...

Besides the money... the media would flock to Rand if this is pulled off. Which could even make him a favorite. :D:D:eek:

I think you over-estimate. I don't think people are going to cough up for a senate run like they did for a presidential run. Economic times are a lot tougher than they were on November 5, 2007.

I am not trying to discourage, I am just saying this goal of a million dollars may be a high goal, that even if he gets a respectable $500,000.

On the positivie side - the movement has continued to grow a lot so there is a much larger pool of people to pass the hat to.

And I was very skeptical about November 5th. I seriously did not think it would do a tenth of what it did, even though I contributed a few times through the day.

I certainly hope it goes well, just think expectations should not be set too high.

I think your post is spot on..however.. what we should realize is the race is being decided right now .. not on issues but on who raises the most money.

The press has already produced candidate a (Jack Conway ) and candidate b (Dr. Dan Mont..) for the democrats in KY

They look to do the same on the GOP side. If Rand falls to the second tear.. the race is over.. it's not about issues.:o:o

So, it's go big or go home time!

That being said 500,000 will be a big +...

One Million is news worthy....;)

I actually said at the start of the bomb that $500,000 will be the likely result.. Of course I'm hoping for the big one million, but I just don't see it happening.

Hopefully I'm wrong. :)

I think you're spot on TRT. Like it or not, this is Rand's shot. We gotta beat two groups here. The KY media who would like to pigeonhole Rand as tier 2 and the GOP elite who wanna make sure he stays there and goes away quietly ... but mainly just goes away. IF Rand has an edge in this thing at all is that I'd bet 70% of the GOP and Indy rank and file are with us, IF they can know that they are with us = ad $$$!

Rand is a fine speaker, great candidate, with the right message at the right time. We just gotta have enough $$$ to be compeditive. I'll take right message with competitive $$$ vs. more money, yawn candidate, yawn message all day in this environment.
