Southern Poverty Law Center Exposes White Supremacists in the Military

According a new report to be released today by the watchdogs at the Southern Poverty Law Center, dozens of members of the neo-Nazi networking website "New Saxon" (go find the link yourself) describe themselves as active-duty members of the U.S. armed services in their online profiles.

In other words: Some of those in armed forces are also those who burn crosses—at least on the Internet. (Zack de la Rocha almost nailed it, I guess.)

The Stars and Stripes reports:

On Friday, the [Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)] will present its findings to key members of Congress who chair the House and Senate committees overseeing the armed forces and urge them to pressure the Pentagon to crack down.


“In the wake of several high-profile murders by extremists of the radical right, we urge your committees to investigate the threat posed by racial extremists who may be serving in the military to ensure that our armed forces are not inadvertently training future domestic terrorists,” Morris Dees, SPLC co-founder and chief trial counsel, wrote to the legislators. “Evidence continues to mount that current Pentagon policies are inadequate to prevent racial extremists from joining and serving in the armed forces.”

One servicemember on the site announced that he had been in the Army for five years, and that he "will do anything to keep our master race marching." Comments like these suggest more than just casual racism—a lot of the content seems like the expression of deeply-held beliefs by committed white supremacists. The whole thing is disturbing even if it's probably not very widespread.

The U.S. military's policy against racial extremism in the ranks is similar to its policy regarding homosexuality. Both policies are framed as safeguards against forces—racism and sexual tension—that could undermine unit cohesion.

Since "don't ask, don't tell" was implemented in 1993, about 12,000 servicemen have been discharged for revealing their homosexuality. The lackadaisical enforcement of the ban on white supremacism means that few, if any, white supremacists have gotten the boot. Which is more dangerous to unit cohesion: a gay man, or a neo-Nazi?

A better headline would be, as military scrapes bottom of barrel to keep Israel's neighborhood safe, the ADL's minions grow nervous about the bottom of the barrel becoming empowered.

I might share that concern, though I'm more inclined to believe that they'll learn tolerance during their service because someone of a different melanin content is very likely to save their asses. But mostly, I just love it when an evil plan goes awry.

I am sure a certain percentage of people in the military might have views in line with white supremacists but I doubt it is much different than the percentage in the population at large.

The mini-series on HBO called Generation Kill (one of the actors was one of the actual men in the unit) shows how this subject comes up a lot. You have a large group of amp'd up guys going into combat, and that breeds all sorts of one-upmanship and "who's the bigger dog in the pen" attitudes. I'm sure there are racists of all sorts there, but it seems they get along fine because like ACPTulsa said, one day it could be someone with a different skin color saving their ass.

"Exposures" like these are pure hate, witch hunts aiming at controlling people.. In Sweden, they've been able to marginalize large portions of the population that way, it's simply fascism. I caught a glimpse of couple of scenes of this war movie about first Iraq war (1991?) on FX last night that starred Jamie Foxx has some kind of group leader. In the scene, one the soldiers does some weird stuff - right after rolled into Iraq from Kuwait he is portrayed as someone who is anxious to get some kill on "rag heads", he jumps with joy when when some planes above are shown heading deeper into Iraq and he starts jumping with joy saying 'we're gonna bomb some rag-heads". In next scene he is shown trying to desecrate a dead burnt Iraqi's body, other soldiers give him dirty looks and try to pull away.

If such a depictioin is not totally fictional, how could someone possibly know if he was a "white supremacist", a "jewish supremacist" or some regular guy who just had something hit him really hard at some point in his life?

I don't doubt that a miniscule percentage of white servicemen are radical racists, just like a small percentage of BLACK servicemen are radical racists.

ALIPAC is issuing a national advisory to all local, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies and officers, along with all DHS Fusion Centers, a warning against any reliance upon faulty and politicized research issued by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and Anti Defamation League (ADL).

A national scandal emerged in Missouri, after their MIAC Fusion Center issued an eight page document which made many false claims. The documents attempted to politicize police and cast suspicion on millions of Americans. The 'Missouri Documents', as they came to be called, listed over 32 characteristics police should watch for as signs or links to domestic terrorists, which could threaten police officers, court officials, and infrastructure targets.

Police were instructed to look for Americans who were concerned about unemployment, taxes, illegal immigration, gangs, border security, abortion, high costs of living, gun restrictions, FEMA, the IRS, The Federal Reserve, and the North American Union/SPP/North American Community. The 'Missouri Documents' also said potential domestic terrorists might like gun shows, short wave radios, combat movies, movies with white male heroes, Tom Clancey Novels, and Presidential Candidates Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin!

So ADL was involved in defining these "characteristics"?
