really though, we need a real dialogue in this country about the "holocaust." why is that a term used only for 'jews' in the concentration camps? what about the ten million german civilians blown up in their homes, on their way to work, etc. by allied bombs? last i checked that outnumbers the 'jews' by... uhhh... four million people.

17 million people died in Hitler's concentration camps. Only 6 million were Jews. A further 11.9 million civilians were killed by Nazis in the USSR. In comparison, Germany experienced 1.9 million civlian deaths, outside the camps of course.

3 million Germans died in the camps.

Note here: Hitler killed more German civilians then the entire allied bombing campaign.

I think it's understandable. Just look at the way people feel about Israel on this board. If you don't consider the horrors of the holocaust, then it's tough to understand why there is an Israel at all.

Alexander Haig used to complain all the time about Japanese diplomats. Every time they were negotiating, no matter the topic, they'd say "You dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki." He's always tell new assistants it was coming and when they doubted him, he's punch them in the shoulder when it happened.

It's natural to play the victim card. I don't like it, but I also don't want people to forget any of the holocausts. That's how they happen. Catholics, Gypsys, gays, Jews and Communists were murdered by the millions by the Nazis. Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin, and on and on have killed tens of millions and maybe more for no good reason. We need to remember all of them.

Case in point - I'm trying to do some research on how Martin Luther was anti-semetic. My parents are lifetime Lutherans and I thought they'd get a kick out of it, since they've probably never heard about this portion of Luther's character.

So like the 3 or 4 sites I find that go into depth about the subject are from completely biased viewpoints. Mentioning the holocaust in every-other paragraph (nevermind that Luther lived 400 years before WWII)..
