Sen. Cornyn booed at Capitol “tea party”

By Andrea Lorenz | Saturday, July 4, 2009, 03:19 PM

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn drew boos from a crowd outside the Texas Capitol this afternoon as he spoke at a “tea party” rally organized by the Texas office of Americans for Prosperity.

Cornyn was booed at the start and close of his remarks, which assailed actions in Washington; there were no boos while he awarded a Purple Heart to a Copperas Cove resident injured in Iraq in 2006.

.....

UPDATE, 4:04 p.m.: Perry drew scattered boos, notably from crowd members aware of his advocacy of toll roads to relieve traffic congestion.

MSM is still content to refer to people attending these protests as "teabaggers" with pervasive success :(

Toll roads are a good thing, so long as they are not operated, build, maintained, or controlled by the State (and also as long as the State doesn't use eminent domain in the process).

Nearly unbelievable... the winds of change, real change... the people aren't buying the party line anymore... Wait for more of the results from this Independence Day!

I have a feeling that it was the NAFTA superhighway they were booing for reasons that had nothing to do with it being a toll road to relieve congestion, and the reporter either was ignorant of the other issues involved or just wanted to be snarky.

The people are basically ranchers and oilmen so they're naturally inclined to accept the Bush propaganda. Try to look below the surface and you'll see a trend that'll turn those standing ovations * into a lynch mob in nothing flat. Granted, the folks in Woodward need their eyes opened if they really believe that Bushwacker is a conservative that "didn't spend money we didn't have". Give it a bit more time for the emotional instability to brew. Bush is history. Obama will bear the brunt of the initial fury, but it won't end there IMO.

* 6 standing ovations? That response is not only a sign of indoctrination, it's a sign of emotional instability and frustration with the current situation.

this was an entirely different story, a small town in one of the most conservative states, a ticketed event with minimum cost of $25. like preaching to the choir for Bush.

not to be compared with the TEA parties with no tickets, the common people can easily attend.

It's ashame that Cornyn has anointed himself chairman of the Senate Constitution committee.

Can't think of anyone that's more hypocritical than this lyin UNCONSTITUTIONAL scumbag heading that committee.
