Harrisburg is a worthless piece of real estate. The problem with PA is that when all the steel companies and manufacturing started to leave they made it easy for people to become dependant on the government. Also the cost of living is fairly inexpensive in central PA. What happens is people who should not live in these areas have moved there from other areas since it is cheap and easy to aquire welfare. It is a disgrace. I grew up in Lebanon County which is next to Dauphin County and watched Lebanon, a once nice city, turn into a complete hole. It's really a shame.

If our federal government were funded by a flat tariff do you think this would have happened?

What is going on in PA that they would call for martial law? are there riots or something going on. I was kinda confused by the article.

I don't know if something that simple would have made the difference. Not to mention I think the explosion of the steel mills in such areas was due to Government needing them in the first place. People cannot survive in unproductive areas without Government assistance. I think it was doomed form the beginning and their reaction to the failure was worse than the initial failure of the businesses.

I haven't heard anything myself, although I live closer to Philly these days, and we're use to people getting shot out here. I can tell you that Harrisburg is a shit hole. I'm not surprised.

Harrisburg is one of those pesky blue dots on the election map. There are usually 5 or 6 of them, those little blue dots in a vast sea of red that covers the rest of the state. It is no wonder really.

Funny how it's always those same places, those pesky blue dots on the map, that have these 'crime waves' that need heavy police state action to correct. And of course it's always a good idea to lay down your freedoms for the sake of catching a few bad eggs, rather than putting them in prison and keeping them there where they belong. But gosh, we have to have 'early release' cuz afterall, we have a budget shortfall...

The socialist policies of our beloved governor (and past administrations) are at fault. Separate people into groups, pay them to live in public housing, and naturally you will get their vote. DCP is almost a rite of passage for the 'downtrodden' youth in Harrisburg. Its much easier to do crimes, collect your welfare check, sell crack, and watch your house rot, than it is to get a job. It is no wonder that poor defensless people in public housing are easy victims for the criminal element. Afterall guns are evil arent they?

Ever notice how government finds it hard to pay police, but they always seem to find money for a nice stadium? They like this, the crime, the fear, the call for martial law. But don't think for one minute that they could cut something in the budget to pay for some extra patrols, no no.... 'Never waste a crisis'...

Out here in semi-rural central PA if you shoot at a house you can bet they will shoot back. What Harrisburg needs is for every conservative minded person to sit on their front porch with their AK or AR in hand. The gang thugs would soon get the message that it's just not safe to act like animals, at least not in YOUR neighborhood! I mean, I am sure the cops wouldn't mind law abiding citizens 'cleaning their guns' on their own porches would they?

Martial law will aggravate the situation. Mark my words.

How about the primary supporters of groups like the NAACP teach their kids that it's wrong to rob and kill people in the streets and that they should work for an honest living. Then maybe the police won't have to spend so much time and taxpayers dollars "profiling" them.
